Character: Helios Sola Sprensonne
Fandom: Original Character
Age: 32
Wing Color: Gold-yellow with a slight hint of emerald green on the tips
Personality:
Helios is summed up a being pretty much well…eccentric. He’s quite friendly to younger children, as is he accustomed to them, being a headmaster of a school and all. He works with age groups from high school and onward...as you can imagine not many of his students are teenagers at all. The fact that he works with mythical beings far wiser than himself has made him adapt making him a bit too wise and a bit too knowledgeable for his own good. He does however have a very bad way with technology and is completely oblivious to it at times. Something like how geniuses lack all common sense only you can apply Helios with technology.
He is the headmaster of a highly prodigious school for humans and well…mythical creatures actually. Although there is learning and a set standard curriculum you could say this whole school of his is a big experimental project being conducted, without anyone's knowledge of course including his staff. Helios’s dream is solely embedded into this school and he becomes absorbed and focused on it entirely. He sacrificed too much for the sake of his school’s re-awaking to not continue on with his aspirations, it is also for Elise’s sake that he does this and hopes to see his dreams come to fruition.
Whimsical, open-minded, carefree and wise for a man his age, being only 32, Helios is an expert in his field: Cryptology and Mythology. He’s seen things most humans could only dream about and it was, is, his goal to allow humans and Myths to coexist together.
He has then been exposed to many supernatural and inhuman events dangerous and harmless so such things will not be as taxing or as shocking to him as most would think, actually he might find them to be interesting and amazing in all honesty. Helios despises violence never really jumping to the conclusion of having to use his powers and most of the time he tries to settle disputes with reason and talking out the differences. He’s seen far too much violence in his life and he hates it when enemies and friends alike are hurt. He even goes as far as to apologize for when he does have to use his powers.
Then there is also his serious side. Which from time to time you can and will see when there are problems of just crisis’s that need to be dealt with. He also knows more about supernatural beings than any normal human should want, or needs, to know. He can also be somewhat evil himself, not truly evil it’s more like a silly non-serious side to him. Possibly due to Ra’s influence on him, but he sometimes turns a blind eye to acts of cruelness exhibited on his students. Such as the fact that the gymnasium is Ra’s own personal torture chamber, of course there are never casualties since that would lead to the school’s closure.
He tends to act more like a child though, having an ever apparent sweet tooth is stunning proof of this as well as getting easily excited over some of the most pointless things. You can practically bribe the man with tea, sugar, and just about any cookie or sweet ever conjured up in a bakery.
Helios is, unfortunately, also very broken. The psychological trauma inflicted upon him in the younger years of his life make him very hard to get close to, it is somewhat impossible. He will however befriend those around him but he is all too willing to sacrifice himself for others well being, never taking into account his own weaknesses and limits, a major flaw in his personality to be sure.
His years spent with his brother, Nero, being abused and harmed by that which was his own blood has caused him to lose faith in himself and anyone who tried to get close to him. Plagued with multiple defined phobias such as: aphephobia and avoiding being alone in darkened rooms, Helios is anything but solid. But his own mental demeanor and make-up he knows how to hide it very well. It’s not until when Elise, his fiancée, comes into his life that those prominent debilitating fears dissipate for a short time.
It was soon after her death that his symptoms returned, along with a debilitating belief of self-doubt and blaming himself for Elise’s death. Also his lack of interest in any other female is due to the fact that Elise was his undeniable soul mate and he was not allowed, nor wanting, to marry or look for another relationship you could say he’s emotionally apathetic when it comes to the opposite gender, albeit females many try as hard as they might to win him over. Therefore he remains humbly single and not very against the idea either. His symptoms are not as overpowering as before and he no longer shakes or fears when people get close or try to touch him but they are still there and merely thoughts or visions can and will make them resurface.
It is really only in the presence of his older brother that he shows any sort of recollection or continuity of these fears. More often than not he is normal and hardly feels the need to tell anyone about his problems most likely because he feels himself to be a burden. Because of the past abuse Helios never really attributes himself to being anything great, even though he knows he’s an amazingly powerful magician; he’ll simply brush it off as being somewhat good but that there are others out there who are better. Safe to say he’s not pompous at all and never gives his own uniqueness enough credit.
He remains rather enigmatic for the most part; his past no one’s concern but his own in his mind and you’ll likely see a smile on his face through the worst of whatever is to come.
Strengths:
Physical: Helios is one of the most high ranking powerful alchemist and magicians in his world. He can summon gods, demons, and angels if he so desired. However here in Luceti that power is completely cut off something which will probably perplex him. His spells range from the most simplistic easily used spells, like a simple flick of the wrist creating fire, to those that mythical creatures use and are considered extremely hard to control and even have enough stamina to use. Something also worth mentioning is that Helios doesn't need to chant the usual mantras or spells when summoning and using magic, why? Well basically he’s memorized all of them and therefore can use magic at will it’s all in his head and that makes him dangerous when fighting because you never know what spell he has up his sleeve.
Mental: Mentally our headmaster is quite wise, well rounded, and hardly judges anyone on first time appearances. He’s very open-minded but that’s not to say he’s innocent in any regards. Helios knows when people are trying to trick him, he works with tricksters and all sorts of creatures that use such tactics so don’t expect him to be easily fooled. He speaks very proper as well minding his words so as not to offend anyone, or thing, mythical creatures are quite touchy sometimes and working with figures such as Lucifer and the president on the United States son means talking as a proper educated individual is a very good idea.
Emotional: He has a sunny disposition most of the time never really one for pessimism despite all he’s been through. Helios can really brighten up anyone’s day if you let the man get to know you. He’s clear headed and never really gets frazzled by odd things happening around him, I mean you have to keep your head with a school filled with vampires and werewolves right?
Weaknesses:
Physical: Despite the power Helios has he’s still just a human, no other way about it. Therefore he gets easily tired and the physical tax of upper level spells has on his body sometimes drains him to complete exhaustion. Hence the reason as to why he doesn’t use his powers all that frequently. He still requires sustenance and is easily hurt should you manage to graze him. All in all he is not infallible and sometimes his disregard of his own limits puts him at more of a risk than his foes.
Mental: He has a lot of mental weakness our dear headmaster. Regardless of what it seems like Helios is far from perfect and even he lacks knowledge in certain things. Like technology, current fads and such. He's a bit old school for the modern times mostly due to his magical upbringing never really requiring him to use a cell phone or any such gadgetry. He's pretty bad with woman too, actually. Not being perceptive to their advances has gotten him one too many scowls and angry glares in retort. He hasn’t spoken to, or even been on a date, for much of his adult life most of his time taken up by school and work. His phobias tend to crop up from time to time and if he flinches or backs away from your touch don’t be all that surprised. He can also be forgetful and gets names mixed up a lot of the time. He's kind of derpy and you'll see it a lot.
Emotional: Helios is a very shattered individual. Although he’s worked ages and ages on building up a mask to confine this weakness sometimes it can slip, and even he cannot stop it. He basically wars with himself everyday for the sole reason of Elise’s death harboring and lingering on it like a festering wound. Emotionally he seems happy and fine but inwardly he’s a bunch of nerves and self inflicted, though mostly in was Nero’s doing, phobias.
History:
It should be noted that the world which Helios comes from is Earth. More importantly it is the present day Earth and contains many of the similar factors and political personnel that the actual one does. However there are always two sides to every coin and in this case the magical aspect hidden within his world. Basically it’s Earth with mythical creatures inhabiting it, and some are rulers of nations like Germany and even America, and magic is something of an underground system not thoroughly believed in but many people do use it. There’s a High Counsel of elder magicians which meet every five years to debate and see which family blood lines are most prominent and which are at the precipice of dying out. Magic in this Earth is simple manipulation of matter like water and fire; it’s genetically bound in a sense that when mythica (mythological creatures) descended upon the Earth they only taught certain families and people how to use magic. For these two reasons humans used to all be able to have the ability to us magic, however the ability died out when mythica came and began teaching and honing the skills of those who had a better grasp at using it. Many people died via improper use or spells backfiring and killing those who had no control over it. This now, in the future, only makes certain people capable of using it and teaching it to their protege. It’s also said to be a mutation on the Y chromosome making males the more typical ones to having it however it can occur on the X, but the chances are significantly lower; still there are female magicians as well as everyone. This theory, however, has yet to be proven.
The Sprensonne family has a long line of descendants who were occult in their own teachings and religion. It’s said that they were known to practice these occult arts back in the time of the crusades. Harboring in a castle in Romania for much of their time alive the Sprensonne lineage grew into one of the most powerful magical bloodlines the world has ever known. They never had a true religious sect to which they belonged; they founded the Sprensonne Academy is the early 1600s along the same time as when the witch trials, which plagued most of the world, were spreading like wildfire. It was said that the Academy, before shaping into a school, was used to shelter those wrongfully accused as being witches. For the most part after the 1600s there was a brief period of abandonment of the castle in which many thought it to be cursed and haunted due to those who were kept there. It lay dormant for a period of several hundred years before the third generation of the Sprensonne family re-opened it in the late 1980s.
Helios was born in America on December 15th, but he is Romanian. He only has one other sibling an older brother named Nero. He used to get along quite well with Nero the both of them practiced magic together under their parents supervision and teachings but Nero however was always shadowed by Helios. Helios was quicker learn, quicker to understand and memorize and thus gained much more light in his parent’s eyes, or at least that is what Nero thought to be true. The first stone was cast by this and it was throughout most of their time in primary school which created the now present day fissure between the two brothers.
It soon came time for Helios and his brother Nero to attend Sprensonne but not under their parents, who were supposed to be the Headmaster and Mistress, but a family friend took the position for them as they moved back to America to deal with other business matters. Throughout that time in school Nero was supposed to be taking care of Helios since he was the older of the two but he merely tortured and beat the other forming the many phobias psychological problems which now plague him in the present. Helios never attacked back because they were brothers and he was a bit more innocent than Nero. He never wanted to hurt Nero no matter what and that’s because of his pure heart and selfless disposition. He never really told anyone about the things Nero did to him and thus it created a rather large void in Helios, often leaving him wondering why Nero hated him so much. The fact that he was alone for those years made him form the idea that telling anyone would only be a bother therefore he kept it mostly to himself.
After their parents death however Sprensonne closed once again and it was deemed to stay that way. Helios went off to college in hopes of becoming a psychologist while Nero of course wanted nothing else to do with magic; his grudges and hatred making him forget his magical blood entirely and he basically shut Helios and everything in Romania out of his life for good and returned to America where he joined the military and eventually became an FBI agent. Helios's field studies of belief creating and bringing things into actual existence via children’s minds was claimed to be ludicrous by many of his colleagues and professors. They said that a world beyond the conscious mind having an actual existence and that the manifestation of myths from such a world was far too strange, even for a practiced psychologist. Ridiculed and laughed at by the people he thought he could confide in and trust thus Helios set off back to Romania undeterred and extremely determined to prove his theories right. He therefore re-opened Sprensonne Academy once again a plan of action in full swing for the young middle-aged man his dreams soon to come full circle.
Helios is the 4th generation of his family’s lineage and therefore his magical growth and knowledge exceeds that of his ancestors by a ten-fold. Magic grows with each passing bloodline through proper use and refining, Helios receiving all those is now one of the most powerful alchemists in his time period. The subtle changes made to the school over time are fully seen as Helios worked his way into making such changes for its final and current re-opening. Helios retook the school back and with modifications towards curriculum and those who attend the school he soon re-opened it under the true founders bloodline of Sprensonne.
It should also be noted that throughout history within the inner depths of the Academy various magic and otherworldly experiments were conducted none of which have been recorded or at least no factual records have been found. This is most likely because the head of the family, meaning the headmasters including the present day Helios, all have these records in their possession.
Before the actual school’s reopening Helios was engaged to Elise Gaita a woman who was part dryad. It was typically common for magical families to marry into one another, especially in this world, and the reasoning behind it was the mixture of magical attributes would pass over to the children giving them both powers of each parent and thus making powerful witches and wizards along with sometimes mythological creature blood within the mix. They would be half-breeds but extremely long living and powerful than the regular human magician. Despite the halfbreed nature they were not persecuted against, actually they were more accepted and many turned into fine instructors.
Elise was what they call Helios’s “True Light” a term quite commonly used in the magical underground world. It simply meant that both spouses are so perfectly bound and intertwined to one anothers souls that it is nearly impossible to separate or break them, a perfect match if you will, of course such bonding and soul sharing can be problematic and dangerous. If either one was to die the other, under law and just basic nature, would never be allowed to love another single being again.
It was the night of their engagement party when the life altering event occurred. In the attempts to summon a lower leveled mythical being Helios accidentally gained the attention of Apep the Egyptian god. The powerful bond between him and Elise drew its attention and it quickly went after her pure soul and druid powers. Apep was being targeted and battling a dragon god known as E-Mun Ra and therefore it was highly injured and barely alive; this opportunity was one in a million and it merely took all the chances it could to regain its strength by feasting on such a pure and powerful soul.
Suffice to say it possessed Elise and ate her soul and power the subsequent effects that happen changed Helios’s life forever. The fact that her soul was tainted left him tainted as well, since they were true lights to one another in rare occurrences like this any damage done to either one of their souls would harm the other, and therefore he lost all the heat from his body and an intense cold now envelopes him since part of his soul is tainted. In present day if you were to touch him this still holds true he feels more like a corpse than anything and cold temperatures affect him less than they usually would. People with the ability to see auras can easily sense and see the tainted presence about the man it looks like a black writhing cloud.
E-Mun Ra protected Helios by killing Apep once and for all but he was unable to revive Elise or reverse the effects on Helios. In return for the dragon god saving his life Helios gave the other a temporary form which he could safely move about humans in since Ra could no longer return to his plane of existence, his power much too drained from the battle. This began their odd, but mutual, friendship between man and god.
Wrought with distress at losing his soul mate and only love of his life Helios almost killed himself but Varron, a friend from college, saw that he did not asking the other if this would be the path Elise truly wanted him to take. Helios knew it wasn't and that it would be wrong for him to take such a path. Varron pleaded for him to come back to America but Helios declined saying that there was more to be done in this castle and that he would not let Elise's life go to waste. He would never forget her, ever, and he would never marry another woman nor would he be attracted to anyone but her.
Before opening the school Helios conducted a series of long experimentation's with the Mirage Ring using Ra as his guinea pig much to the others stubborn chagrin. The rings properties allowed it to cloak a supernatural beings true forms with a human figure instead via magic and will; it usually lead to many a disaster the dragon god getting much of the brunt of the failed experiment. Having things blown up in a god’s face usually lead to Helios’s clothing miraculously catching fire and the like, the mutual friendship mentioned is hardly...pain free, unfortunately, for the both of them.
After perfecting the ring’s abilities Helios re-opened the school this time it was truly different from anything seen before. Sprensonne now housed human students and mythological creatures otherwise known as Mythica. They both co-exist and interact with one another in a way that the more humans began to believe in certain myths the more they will be able to see their true forms beyond even the Mirage Ring's powers. Also this belief allows humans to access certain myth's dorms of the castle should they wish to the coined term is Legame di Credenza or Bond of Belief. As September approached so did the turbulent school year.
The first incident occurred when evil remnants of Apep resurfaced, creating a living manifestation of the fear, darkness, and loneliness within the hearts of all those within the school’s grounds it called itself Absscheulich. Unable to do much Helios was beaten and the creature escaped after it rendered even E-Mun Ra powerless. It broke the blood seal which was cast upon it all those years ago by Helios and sure enough it opened four different rifts in time. Splitting into four separate entities Absscheulich tried to regain more power by gathering holy artifacts of time periods long since passed. It was successfully stopped by Helios and his varying mythical student body compatriots.
After such an incident it was, for a majority of time, peaceful and quiet but all good things must come to an end and sure enough they did. This time, however, the catalyst to the event took place in a world similar to Earth but it was different. The world which herald this new incident was called Amnesia and everything in it was reversed. The “Mirror World” incident as it was labeled to all those who remembered it occurred on a rather normal school day, or as normal a school day as Sprensonne could have. The stabilizing super computer AVISS (Advanced Visual Imagining Synchros System) sensed a fracture in Amnesia’s plane of existence it was then that all mirrors on Earth began to fissure and open. Helios in Earth’s plane heard the warning given to Amnesia’s Helios in his own plane, since the two are constants they both now shared a mental link with the AVISS system which is in layman ’s terms a super computer is built to see every corner of the Earth. Helios from Earth used this to his advantage in finding his opposite and they both met with less than kind words.
Basically the world which Helios and his students came from was switched entirely in Amnesia; demons in Earth’s plane of existence were angels in Amnesia’s and so on and so forth. The only continuing constants were Helios and his Amnesia counter self also much to Helios’s surprise Elise was alive in that world. As you could imagine this tore at Helios as he went to try and stop his Mirror self from destroying Earth permanently. The two worlds colliding with one another left each in a deadly imbalance, with cataclysmic results to follow, since they both now existed in the same plane one would have to be destroyed for the other to exist. The zodiac stones which were precious, holy, objects of Amnesia had the power to right the rift between both worlds and seal them off for good or potentially destroy one world living the other to live. Thus Helios and his fellow coworkers raced against time to stop Amnesia’s Helios from obtaining the stones. Safe to say Amnesia’s Helios reached the final stone before Helios and from his castle in the Amnesia’s worldly capital of New York was Helios about to destroy Earth once and for all. The AVISS system was hooked up and ready to go the sequence merely needing the flick of a switch and ample magical input was needed to breach the rift and cause Earth to be consumed and lost forever.
Helios turned the tides when he sealed his other self’s powers however; very tempted to take Elise back to his world with him, though he felt it inhumane to take that which his mirror self could truly cherish, and even against Elise’s own wishes to come back with him he sealed the other world, with help from varying Mythica, in its own plane so that nothing like that would ever happen again. Heart throbbing with the loss of his loved one a second time before his eyes he told Elise to take care of him in that world…and that perhaps he could be happy there in a place where he had not killed her.
The return trip back to Earth was the end of that debacle and fortunately neither of the two worlds were destroyed. Only minimal damage was done to Earth and as usual a mind wiping spell was conducted by Helios to all humans who had seen the event occur. The mind wipe spell left Helios rather…exhausted for what it was worth, that spell being rather powerful, and even using it once Helios jokingly admits is like taking a year off his life span.
He soon recovered but it took a little over two months to do so, and because of his weakened state the headmaster hadn’t had the proper protection spells up around the castle. It was a blistering cold night in January, just after the New Year, when everyone was returning for the second term when a group of vagabond demons took control of the school. Their mission was to kill its headmaster, Helios, for they had heard from tales long since passed that the headmasters of the Sprensonne Academy were soul bounded to their castle, and if they should die the castle would consume their soul and make it a part of the castle itself. It is also said that the castle is a wonderful mass of pure delicious magical energy and that one can become extremely powerful should they end up retrieving it. The legend is partially true, most of the headmasters are just mere shadow beings that help warn Helios when something is amiss on the school grounds, and they are all in fact the past headmasters and their wives as well. The Academy is a living entity in and of itself, but if the headmaster is to die without properly closing the school down for good, or without declaring a proper heir, the castle itself will fall to ruin. It was a battle to regain control, to regain power over the one thing he had worked so hard to keep alive. Too much was at stake but his condition left him extremely vulnerable, and Helios was ultimately captured and would have been executed had it not been for several of his students. The demons were pushed back with the help of the angelic students, and with it everything returns to normal once again. Helios was finally able to regain his full strength, and the new semester started with much of a buzz but that was just daily routine in Sprensonne Academy.
All was seemingly well until of course the Malnosso got him.
Appearance:
Helios isn’t very prominent in his looks actually he’s very normal looking. He has the typical golden blonde hair that most Sprensonne’s obtain, albeit it is more of a dirty blonde than true platinum gold, and the customary emerald green eyes which most Sprensonne's have as well. He wears glasses though he really doesn't need to they're technically just rims with glass in them since his vision is 20/20. His skin is fair and he is of average height and weight being only 5’9” and weighing around 135 pounds.
He also has numerous scars along both his arms they're prominent, due to the blade Nero used being infused with magic, and this is why he never wears anything but long sleeves.
He will be portrayed by Jude Law.
Abilities:
Being one of the most powerful alchemists in his universe Helios has a myriad of magical capabilities at his disposal. Most of them are elemental and lower tiered magic spells. However he is also capable of very potent, very dangerous higher leveled spells, there is of course a price paid for the more powerful the spell. Usually extreme exhaustion and even unconsciousness follow depending on the state he is in, he is only human after all, and even lower leveled spells if used consecutively can dampen and lower his stamina. Therefore he tends to not use such spells unless drastic times call for equally drastic measures. Below is a list of just a few spells in his arsenal.
Sanctus lancea: (Offensive) A powerful light based attack in which a large spear erupts from the air and impales foes.
Unda Respersum: (Offensive) A water based attack in which any water in the vicinity becomes his to control. Raindrops turn to needle like spears and so on and so forth.
Aer Battuo: (Defensive) A defensive attack in which Helios does a quick snap of his wrists to summon a tunnel of air capable of pushing back projectiles.
Meggido Fira: (Offensive) A higher based magical attack usually used by Phoenixes it is fire based and quite deadly.
Lux lucis contego: (Defensive) An impenetrable almost invisible shield surrounds Helios and those within a 3ft radius.
Cruor verbero: (Offensive) A blood like whip in which Helios may use his blood, fallen, or from a fresh wound on his person or others and use it to cut through most objects. Steel/metals are unaffected as are other tough surfaces.
Mind Wipe: An advanced magical spell which allows Helios to erase parts of people's memories. He never uses it for anything besides when a human student is unprepared and has seen a mythica student in their true form. Also all the incidents which have occurred he has unfortunately had to use it. The victim doesn't feel much they merely fall asleep. Helios however jokes that the spell is so hard to do that it takes a year off his life every time he preforms it whether or not that's true...well he doesn't really know himself. Therefore he implores his Mythica students to...exercise caution when taking their rings off.
