[Poor, poor residents of Deck 7. It had been such a nice, quiet day, too. Bennett had been enjoying it-- the pain medication he and Herz had found had pretty much knocked him out most of the afternoon

The Wolf is happy to have prey that actually BEHAVES like it, and gives chase. Bennett's screaming inside his own head, begging it to stop, threatening it to stop, but nothing happens. It's already close to Attika's heels, snapping its jaws with delight. It will move to attack next, unless Attika comes up with a plan....]
[Plan? Are you kidding? Attika's plan for fighting things involves doing exactly what she's doing: running. Failing that, she likes to attack people with axes or golf clubs and she has neither of those things right now.
Also, THAT IS A WOLF. A real, live, honest to goodness, not made out of her shadow wolf.
So yeah, no plan in her pretty little head beyond "RUN, YOU FOOL, RUN." Which is exactly what she's doing.]
[She can't fight back. She doesn't know how! Attika goes down hard, bruising her hands badly when she catches herself on them. She instinctively curls up, trying to protect herself from the animal over her.
[The wolf tries to bite down HARD on a shoulder to pull her out of her fetal position. It wants to get at her abdomen, it knows there are less bones there. Come on, Attika, it won't kill you.]
[Attika screams again--that hurts, that hurts so much, why can't it kill her quickly like Hanna did? She unfolds from her curled up position, trying in vain to scramble to her feet. Very difficult when there is a wolf attached to one's shoulder.]
[It slams a paw down against the wound in her shoulder to keep her still-- it can think, it's not just a wolf, after all-- and curls its claws in for leverage. Move. It dares you. The wolf leans down-- an unnatural stretch for it, but whatever, and snaps its jaws shut around Attika's side and rips upwards, tearing what it can as quickly as possible.]
[She moves, but only reflexively, the deep-down, animal instinct to try and survive--but she's in too much pain for that to last long, and she falls still quickly.]
[The Wolf chuffs in satisfaction when she stills. It's pretty sure it didn't kill her, and that's all for the best-- if the infection takes hold, she'll be an asset the next time around. It takes off again, looking for someone else to turn.]
It.
The stuff of her worst nightmares.
The thing inside of her made real.
She screams and turns to run.]
