find that mac keyboards have a delete key but no backspace key. but the delete key works as the backspace.

hrm. i don't think i've never noticed that! i've only recently become acquainted with the delete/backspace key.

not sure if it's the same on an apple keyboard, but i've got a macally extended keyboard with a separate delete [as backspace] + delete [as delete] keys.

No, that's the 'Command' key, and is basically the mac equivalent of the ctrl key in windows. The function key is in the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard, labeled 'fn' (on my laptop anyway). Soon you'll be deleting to your heart's content, and hopefully saying nice things about me instead.

weird.. my keyboard has a "control" key on the bottom left, then "option", then the command/apple key.

and none of them perform delete when pressed in conjunction with backspace!
