i think in the right situation, a) but most situations b)

i think the right situation is a person with their own office that the dog will stay in so it won't be wandering around the office bothering people

yeah, it's acceptable only in certain types of office situations (and you have to know you're going to be working at a place like that before you start) and then only if the person with the dog has his/her own office, and the dog isn't uber-friendly or aggressive or hyper (older dogs pretty much just leave you alone). i worked in an office with there were TWO dogs -- one was an older, quieter dog that stayed in its owner's office unless someone else took him for a walk. the other was a puppy -- hyper and crazy and ran around like mad if he wasn't locked in his owner's office. his owner was my boss, though, so it sorta sucked whenever i needed my boss -- his door was always closed :-P

It's like saying I've got a new pedigree dog breed. It's half Alsatian, half Labrador. I go on to Crufts, I go, "Can I enter this dog in the Labrador section?" "No." "Why?" "Because it's not a Labrador." "Correct." "Can I enter it in the Alsatian section?" "No. For the same reasons. Now get that dog out of my sight." "Thanks, I will. You've proved my point."
