An above average horror movie, Candyman follows the story of a grad student who is writing a thesis about urban myths, specifically that of the Candyman (who, of course, turns out to be real). I seriously don't know if it's a cultural thing, but I just totally didn't get this movie. I laughed, maybe, two times, and thought that 99% of the jokes were stupid and not funny. I have, however, talked to people who thought it was hilarious, so I'm willing to admit that I just don't get this type of humor.

Conclusion: Not for everyone.

I generally keep up on reviews for movies through the magazine Entertainment Weekly, and in general, I agree with their reviews. How much I agreed with their review of Vantage Point was surprising. I went into this movie expecting to find it stupid... and was still disappointed by how bad it really was. It had pockets of humor, but most of the jokes were either too stupid, or were carried on well past their prime. It's like the people doing the movie had no concept of timing at all.
