Tuberculosis and consumption are the same thing. It was also called White Plague, mal de vivir, and mal du siècle once upon a time.

Tuberculosis? Er, I think we mainly call it TB where I'm from, but it's really not that common anymore. I hear it used to be really a problem though.

Consumption is big back home and I guess it and tuberculosis are the same thing, so... Someone had suggested maybe it was lung cancer, but I'm thinking he was wrong.

There are vaccines for tuberculosis, though if someone is already infected, that won't do much good. Antibiotics are usually the standard method of treatment, depending on how advanced the case is.

How well do the antibiotics work? Like, as far as extending life goes and all of that. Does it get rid of it completely, either?
