Elephants? Why elephants?

Elephants are symbolic of the strength and serenity that is the epitome of the modern political environment. Why, if the donkey were shot in the face by am intoxicated vice president, it would probably slay the wayward communist symbol of the Kenyan born, but an elephant would shrug the shot off and proceed to stomp the liberal symbol afflicting the United States!

Or maybe it was just part of the museum's circus display with lighting that knocked me out...
