So, food: I've been cooking it. We are on a self-imposed challenge not to go out to eat until our vacation at the end of the month. I am also on a (also self-imposed) no dairy/sugar/grains/legumes trial, in an effort to fix some minor health issues and maybe aid in weight loss.  This means I am making dinner far more often, and making really ( Read more... )

That quinola sounds delicious! I've never yet found a recipe that made me love quinoa, but that looks like a good candidate.

For vegetarian meals, I often rely on my many Moosewood cookbooks (try Low-Fat Favorites and Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home, their 30-minute meal book). I also like Veganomicon and just picked up Vegan With a Vengeance.

This is really a great time of year to start cooking more vegetarian meals anyway: panzanella, cucumber/buttermilk soup, black bean/tomato/corn salad, homemade salsas, cold soba noodles with vegetables, even just a bunch of delicious side dishes. I'm sure I have a bunch of vegetarian/vegan recipes in my 50 recipes tag, too, if you poke through that.

Coconut milk in coffee is interesting, and the coconut creamer is rally good. But also expensive.
