I swear to unholy Christ, iTunes is enough to make me want to return this iPod and never look at an Apple product again. If the iPod showed up as a USB storage device, I would much, much MUCH rather just drag-and-drop that work though the hell that is iTunes. I am going to search for utilities that let me do just that.

The most prominent example: I spent a significant amount of time using my laptop to transfer almost 15GB of music to the iPod. Then I hooked it up to my desktop, at which point iTunes insisted that the only way I could get add more music was to erase everything on the iPod and re-sync. That is just poor, poor design. It may be that there's a setting somewhere that will make that NOT happen, but it should be the default behaviour to play nice.
