I've seen three different videos/rants/PSAs against "vertical video" in as many days, all suggesting there's something fundamentally wrong with recording in this orientation and that anyone doing so is an imbecile.

I beg to differ. It's a matter of framing. Material should be recorded in whatever aspect ratio best suits the content. The black ( Read more... )

Youtube is nothing but defects these days. I gnash my teeth every time it defaults to that @#$! 144p option. They're also pulling that "use your real name" crap when I (rarely) sign in.

There used to be an attraction at the Luxor in Vegas that was one giant vertical IMAX movie, several stories tall. Don't know if any other movies have been shot that way though.

I've seen LCD panels mounted vertically being used as video billboards at the mall recently.
