Sedimental Journey

mythos_amante and I have this thing called "denial art supplies." It's all the materials and tools you buy with some great artsy craft project in mind, then never get around to...but then refuse to cast off because that would mean admitting failure. So we've gotten into this habit of periodically purging stuff, and after the initial bit of discomfort it ( Read more... )

After a particularly rubbery dinner last night

Now.. given that, as far as I've ever been aware, you're not particularly inclined toward latex clothing (more's the pity), I can only, with some regret, conclude you're referring to the food.

Was it anywhere I should make a point of avoiding, or was it a home experiment which went awry?

and I'm really not doing much cooking these days

Aw, sorry to hear that.

For myself, I love cooking, whatever else is going on, however busy things are - it's a form of self-expression. I adore being able to start with a basic notion of what meat or fish I'd like to start with, and what vague kind of flavors I want to wind up with, then running with it from there. Much as I enjoy eating out, especially enjoying dishes that are perhaps too complex for me to achieve, or using particularly awkward ingredients, I derive great satisfaction from winding up with something tasty that's just what I wanted, as well as being nutritious and low calorie ( ... )

Whole Foods = Whole Paycheck.

Still. Funny how they opened right across the street from Sprouts, which is somewhere between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods on the expense ticket.

Tell me; did you have at least one can of Cream of Mushroom soup? I think it's a law that every house has to have one, even if people in the house have never purchased the stuff, used it, or even tried it in any dish.

In fact, I'm pretty sure when you buy or rent a house, there's a clause in the mortgage or rent agreement stating that the cupboard must contain at least one can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup. There may be something written in the Constitution about it.

There was! Two in fact. They've been flushed down the drain, but I'm sure four more have already spontaneously regenerated in their place. If not, I'll have to replenish them tomorrow or the government will take my house away. I don't remember exactly what the cream of mushroom soup is supposed to be for...tuna casserole, I think.

Also, funny thing I noticed about "Whole Paycheck"...their house-brand generic items are actually cheaper than Lucky (okay, not hard to do) and even Target in a few circumstances. That was a surprise...nice, I don't mind generic stuff, and can then splurge on a froufrou cheese or something. Brie!

And their vegan carrot cake is laced with something...roommate and I split a slice last night and we both had fucked up weird dreams.

"This package is so old, it doesn't even have a website on it!"

I've got some bottles of dried-up liquid paper. Remember ink? I still have this tackle box from college that has a jar of rubber cement that I'm afraid to open. How did we do art before the computors?

I miss Wild Oats. They were bought out by Whole Foods, but it's pretty much the same deal. I buy textured vegetable protein in bulk and use it as a flour substitute. Tis awesome.
