Conned

Back from Comic-Con. My shoulders and calves, and to a lesser extent the tops of my feet and the gripping surfaces of my fingers, feel like they've been diced and reassembled; I've eaten more refined carbs in the last four days than in a typical month of this year; and I'm not sure how I'm going to be productive at work tomorrow, only that it must ( Read more... )

You made it back alive as well, :) Zombified as me, I imagine, but yeah. I'm still more or less processing the new Heroes episode (especially since me and tracker_lucifer were half-awake and spent a lot of the thing doing our usual MSTK3 routine, sadly, :P) but overall it was a fun con. Hope your shoulders feel better.

Yeah, I iz zombie. Caffeinated zombie. The shoulders will get better over this week, now that I'm not carrying the Big Frakkin Bag or any of its cousins; the huge stripe of burst-capillary spots along where my purse handle hits will probably take a little longer.

But, for the first time in months, I have genuine bunnies. This is a good thing.

That is a good thing. The con had a similiar affect on me as well, but more so for original fic than any fandom-y offerings. Especially after going to the Ray Bradbury and the 21st annual Gays in Comics panel.

Lately I've been in the process of dusting off some rough drafts I had recovered from when my comp. crashed a few months ago, but listening to these authors was a good shot in the arm. I scribbled some character analysis drabbles in my notebook on the plane home, which I hadn't done in a while. I'm feeling like I might actually get some work done, :B

I had a similar experience with the Humor in SF/How to Tell a Story panels. I was listening to these giants of the field going over all the techniques of good writing, and in my head I was squeeing as I went down the list with my pet original work (which will eventually be a big frakkin novel) and realized I was doing all of it. Well, almost all; I'm still not sure whether my protagonist is changing because of the main antagonist character, but he's definitely a factor. I'd already been thinking I ought to work harder on bringing out that conflict, but now I know why I was thinking it.

I wonder where would be a good place to post all the tips and advice I collected? This journal doesn't get much traffic and I feel as if people should have access to the good stuff.
