Your relationship with Smudge (do I have the name right?) sounds like mine with the bunnies. Midnight will deign to have her(?)self petted for about a minute, until s/he decides it's enough. Onyx, in general, won't allow any petting, though last night s/he did allow me to gently touch hir while sie was eating a piece of romaine. Both will eat from my hand, without any qualms.

Yup, it's a process....
