Marching Orders

Marching band was pure torture.

Our high school didn’t have a dedicated marching band, but once a year for the Potato Bowl Parade (hey, it was North Dakota) our concert band would drag out the uniforms and hit the street to practice marching in straight lines and playing and walking at the same time.

OMG, I was in a marching band in South Dakota in the early 1990s and we had the big furry hats, too! We looked like Qtips. The one dude in my band who was nearly 7 feet tall and towered above us all looked especially like he was about to clean a giant's ears. This post gave me flashbacks.
