... She looks at the door and, well, she hears noises from inside. Maybe there's someone inside, someone else who needs help?

[... A somewhat big house. Big and old... the wood creaks with age if she steps across the floor. It's starkly decorated... except for a few framed portraits and the occasional vase full of white flowers, there's just not much there to offset the austerity of the place. There's a dusty carpet underfoot in the opening hallway, but apart from that, the floors (even the impressive stairwell breaking off from the entry hall and going upstairs) are bare wood... splintery, too.]
[The house looks dark, but there are lights on at the end of the hallway... and angry voices...]

[Bright, golden light. It's beautiful, in a way-- certainly not the ominous, eerie light that one might have expected from a door like that, if one expected light at all.]
[A closer look through the crack will reveal that the door is set at the end of a long, pew-lined aisle ... it's a church.]
[And there, down at the far, far end is a pair of absolutely massive stained-glass windows, towering far above all else...]

[He walks inside, mesmerized by the light and most significantly the enormous window, and not until he's halfway down the aisle does he realize that, yes... it's a church.]
[He flinches, staggers, wants to turn and run but just frantically look around. Is there anyone here? Can he get back to the door or just away unseen?]

[Speaking of...]
[There IS someone there, standing up there by where the pulpit should be, at the very foot of the magnificent windows. A boy? ... No, just a lanky, short-haired girl in a mini-skirt and puffy vest. Her back is to him, although she turns her head just slightly at the sound of his footsteps-- she knows he's there.]
[In front of her is a crude shrine-- almost bizarrely rough and homespun in comparison to the dazzling chapel all around it... a small wooden table, once painted sloppily white but now gray with age, housing bubbly, mostly-spent candles, a few beakers and vials of liquid, and a single bowl... and hanging above the table-- but below the stained glass-- is a scorched canvas in a frame.]
