[It always seems like autumn in the woodland town of Ecruteak. But when it's actually autumn, the colors are mind-blowing.[Heather might not be one of those 'let's walk quietly in nature and be alone with our thoughts' types, but she can appreciate the beauty of the world when she sees it! Which is why, accompanied by a small chorus of footsteps as

[Heather's leaning back dangerously under the weight of the giant bird (whose mass is, admittedly, mostly feathers, but still. That's a lotta bird), who is beating her wings gently for balance as she leans in for cuddles. She's been cooped up in that Pokeball for awhile-- ever since Snake disappeared. She was lonely.]
Someday Lisa's gonna grow up and look like THIS!
[... No explanation offered for why Heather suddenly HAS ONE OF THESE. Yet, anyway.]

How?
[That's okay, he's still a little..wth is going on here, at the moment.]

[At least, he was until he sees Heather, and then as he walks over the what the hell that thing is huge white owl.]
...that one's new.

Sup, tree-head!
[Melancholy over losing Snake aside, reunions are happy occasions-- whether they're with old friends' Pokemon, or old friends themselves.]

And here I thought I'd escaped that nickname. Did you just get into town?
Reply
... And then I'd just need to call you Shrub-Head.
[No worries about the Togekiss-- she pretty much IS cuddles and happiness personified. And even waddles a few steps over to peer soulfully at him.]
But yeah, I just strolled in like... fifteen minutes ago. Had to stop at the mart before going to the inn.

I'm sure they'll be in good hands, Heather. Are you alright?
Reply
Yeah. I'll take good care of 'em.
I'll be fine.
It happens, y'know?

Yeah, it does. It doesn't really make it any easier though. [But at least Johto gives them all a chance to know them. She wishes she could say their lives back home were better for it, but Johto doesn't seem to let them keep memories of their time here either.
Which sucks.]
... And also, wow... that's a big Pokemon.

Sorta startling, isn't it?

-- oi! When'd you get a Togekiss?

Just now.

I didn't know they lived in the wild around here.

[Heather's own smile, meanwhile, grows a little more subdued. Not unhappy... this, after all, isn't quite as much like the disappearance of Phoenix... or god forbid, the awful winter night when her own father's departure had been confirmed... She's sad, but... well, it's bittersweet. At least Snake left her something to remember him by.]
They don't.
[She nods to Sunny, and also to the reclining Torkoal.]
The cashier in there just handed them to me...
... They, uh... belonged to a friend.

... Yeah, I did.
You knew Snake?
[Her tone is curious-- of all the people she'd have expected to know Snake, Hayate wasn't one of them.]

Really? ... Heh... I didn't know that.
[And if she doubted him at all, the sound of Hayate's voice makes the Togekiss in question edge in front of the screen, letting out a quiet trill. That's good enough for Heather.]
Yeah, he was... a real good friend. Always looked out for me. Did you... know he was gone?
I didn't... find out until they handed me that box out of the blue.
