This stuff NEEDS to be documented.

[That's the first thing that can be heard over the feed. When the camera first comes on, a pair of large, familiar reptilian red eyes are blinking down at it. Is it recording...? Oh, okay, recording! Good ( Read more... )

[Here's a mask, Heather! Oh, wait, no, that's just Jack's normal face. And he looks like shit. The dead man hasn't been sleeping well. So much to do, so little time!]

That one suits you.

Yeah?

Did I sound rabid enough to pull it off?

... Do they even have rabies here?

I'm actually not sure.

[Jack nods off temporarily. HHssnsngggll--OH RIGHT HEATHER.]

I want to think they have something like it because that horrible fake bear in Ursarang 2 had some kind of disease.

Ursarang 2?

... Hey, are you all right? You don't look so good.

[Envy is snickering at that display with the mask.]

How terrifying.

So is it everyone that puts on costumes for this Halloween thing?

[Envy's been considering it. Both for thieving purposes because nobody would be able to tell who he was, and also just because he really likes disguising himself and hasn't gotten much of a chance to in Johto.]

Yep. It's tradition!

I think the idea was that if you dressed up as monsters and shit, it'd scare evil spirits away so you could walk at night safely.

'Least that's what I heard once.

Yeah? Too bad that probably wouldn't have worked last year, or that whole mess would've been a lot easier to deal with.

What kinds of monsters are there to dress up as? Besides rabid wolves, I mean. [Envy doesn't really recognize most of the costumes he's seen besides the Pokemon ones.]

I dunno... there's a little of everything.

All the animal-based ones are Pokemon, of course...

You could always make your own costume if nothing's good enough.

...by the way, are you dyeing your hair for Halloween?

[video] foolishwren October 28 2011, 07:44:44 UTC
Yeah, it's just... I'm so lazy.

[She wasn't a terrible seamstress, actually, but she didn't have the patience for it.]

[She blinks.]

Uh-- ... nope. Opposite, actually.

I stopped dyeing it for Halloween.

Or, get someone to make something for you.

...wait, so your hair was always black?

It's my natural hair-color, yeah.

[He watches the whole thing, not even feigning interest in the slightest, sure it's a water pokemon he has seen before, but, whatever--though, there is one thing that catches his attention.]

Holiday? Costumes? I keep hearin' talk about somethin' goin' on, what exactly is it?

[He's not exactly sure why he's asking her, but whatever, information is information!]

[HI PRINCESS.]

[Possibly to aggravate his fashion sense even more, she replies to him with a hideous 'rainfro' (rainbow afro, for those not in the know) wig on her head. There is a 99% chance this is on purpose.]

Halloween.

You dress up in costumes and, if you still look young enough to get away with it, you can go door to door and people give you candy.

Basically.

[She'd mention the part about wreaking havoc in the yards of people who refused to give candy, but she's not sure she wants Prince Purplepants to think it's an acceptable idea to destroy the property of people who don't give him things.]

[HELLO PLEBEIAN.]

[--Oh ew. His expression definitely translates that thought as he scrunches up his nose and visibly recoils from the view of it. Eyebrows furrowing and arching in a way that just screams disgust, especially being coupled with that up-drawn lip in a repulsed sneer.]

... Do take that off your head.

[But he quickly goes back to the matter at hand: the question she's answered.]

Is this some holiday-based ritual a yours or somethin'? And why do people giwe you candy for dressin' up in costumes?

[A thoughtful 'hmm.']

The only time we dressed up in any costumes on Alternia was for FLARP, and that definitely didn't inwolwe candy a any sort.

[If Eridan knew about that much, he'd just use it as an excuse to be an even MORE entitled douche-canoe, so maybe it's best Heather does leave that part out.]

No, I think I'll keep it.

It speaks to me.

[Said in a casually-thoughtful tone.]

Anyway, it's old as dirt. Dunno what the traditions mean. I think the costumes were originally for scaring evil spirits away or something? Whatever. Something like that.

[Yeah, exactly. She'll just omit that bit.]

[Oh haha hey, impressive growl there! Cooper's just going to sort of stick his head out from behind a shelf or something when he hears it, and of COURSE it's her, who else?]

Morning, Heather!

[C: We are in a good nostalgic mood today.]

[It couldn't be anybody else.]

[She looks over her shoulder at the sound of his voice, and then grins broadly when she spots him.]

Mornin'!

[Fancy that, a cop in a costume store.]

Looking for an outfit?

Need help?

[... WHY IS IT THAT THE WAY SHE SAYS THAT COULD COME OFF AS A THREAT.]

[BECAUSE HEATHER IS A VERY PARTICULAR TEENAGER.]

[All the same he'll politely decline that offer.]

No, that's fine. Halloween is a holiday for the kids.

[... She looks affronted.]

What?!

Oh, dude, no. Just... no. Dude.

[You'd think he just said something like 'EATING FOOD IS FOR THE KIDS, EVERYBODY ELSE SHOULD JUST STARVE', looking at the way she's shaking her head solemnly and raising her hands.]

Nobody is too old for Halloween. C'mon. I'll find you something.
