AUTHOR'S NOTES: This one is super rough and I’m not at all happy with any of it from a writer’s perspective, but I figured what the hell! Might as well post it.

It’s got some harsh Dean in it, but it smooths out near the end.

Such a beautiful and heart wrenching fic! It brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.

This was poignant and touching, and I loved all the quiet moments where we see Dean struggling with emotions and grief, not able to move on but sort of stuck in brothers old life, but also maybe a new one for himself.

A great twist in the tale with Gab seeing Sam's ghost. The ending was perfect, seeing them both let each go. *sniff sniff*

I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece, it was a toughy. I definitely wanted to write out a Dean who actually had to go through the motions - we don't really get to see him post-Swan Song, and all the other times he's been able to drag Sam right back, so I wanted a healthier, quieter end to their story. With horrible misery and sadness. [nods sagely]

This one made me cry. Gotta say. I love Dean's wild emotions from pity, grief, anger, guilt and him finally coming to a calm conclusion and ending to Sam's life. Gabriela was a nice twist at the end. Hopefully Dean realizes Sam's life is still living on.

Oh, definitely. I don't know if I'll write up anything after this, but Dean is there for the girls as long as they'll have him around. He's happy to at least have a piece of his brother in the form of Gabs. Passing on the Winchester torch! Have to make sure she gets by okay.

Well...I'm crying. I can't even fathom what that would be like...to miss that call and know you had missed the very last moments of his life. I think I need to find something cracky to read because I am seriously not ok right now.
