But can't anyone establish those same projects if they wanted to? It seems to me that it's more an issue of celebrity, not of political power. I mean, we're all allowed to be as politically active as we want to be. I think it only becomes problematic if the First Lady exerts control over her husband, the President. Or uses his presidential power for her own ends, but I'm not sure how she would do that. So yeah, she's in a position of massive power, but it's power of celebrity, not executive political power, or so it seems to me.
Ah, that makes sense. I guess it was a little confusing because the Reason article referred to a quote from Hillary Clinton where she mentioned that her and Bill were a "co-presidency", and I was befuddled.
