George Lucas is an idiot.

I think I once heard Lucas say that "critics are destroyers" in response to a film student's question about the overwhelmingly negative critical response to Episode I.

That may be true, George, but so are you.

Frankly, I thought EP2 would have been a much better movie if Annikin had done what I halfway thought he might do when first watching it, and raped Portman's character after being a creepy stalker. Luke & Leia, children of rape-- it works for me, and it's evil, which Annikin is just not so far. Whiny, murderous, yes, but not the coldblooded get-what-I-want, power-is-everything bastard we admire in the REAL Vader.

Maybe this makes me an icky person, but it's much more logical and interesting storywise to me than what he actually scripted. =P

LOL!

Well... I kind of like the "slow descent into evil" deal, although you know, the rape thing could totally still happen in the next movie. I imagine Portman's character does get utterly disgusted and/or terrified of him at some point, and what better impetus for that than getting raped, beaten, and killed. Well, the death should come after L&L are born, so it won't all happen at the same time--but it could still all happen in the next movie!

Hm. Now I'm actually looking forward to it. A maniacal conniving asshole Annakin is alot more fun than a pouty depressed one.
