ok so my guilty pleasure when it comes to fan fic is soul-bonding. so do something with that in a team-- two midfield magicians, a keeper and one of the centerbacks, a winger and a striker, whatever, just two guys with an amazing ~bond~ where they use it to really work together. can be sexual or not, but definitely with loads of intimacy description.

Victor hesitated, then patted Andres' hands. "He was up for a while watching you after you passed out. I talked to him a little."
"Victor!" Andres hissed. "He's our vice-captain and my bondmate, you are not allowed to threaten Xavi."
"I didn't threaten him," Victor said, with an eyeroll that Andres could actually hear in his voice even if he couldn't see it. "We just talked."
"But you're not going to tell me about what, right," Andres said.
"Right."
Andres sighed. He could probably pester whatever it was out of Victor, given enough time, but he wasn't sure it was worth it, and anyway Xavi was waking up. "All right. I'll be right back."
"Go back to bed! It's after midnight!" Victor called after him. "If you oversleep and make me late to practice tomorrow morning I will kill you

"What?" Xavi said, sounding startled, and let him back in again. Xavi was - Xavi was worried about something, he could feel that now. He didn't like the feeling of Xavi's anxiety buzzing around in his head, but it was still a million times better than the blankness that had been there before. "Oh, fuck."
"I'm sorry," Andres blurted, "but I can't - please don't."
"Oh god, I'm so sorry," Xavi said, horrified. "I didn't think - I have to cut everyone else off, I'd go crazy if I knew where they all were off the pitch, too. I didn't realize - "
"I'm not everyone else, I'm your bondmate," Andres said, and maybe he was more upset about it than he'd realized, because he was starting to get hysterical. "You can't

Xavi's team won in the end, but Andres was still smiling as they all jogged off for a water break. Leo was sulking a little and both Deco and Ronaldinho were trying to tease him out of it, and Andres was only a few years older than Leo but he couldn't even remember being that young. It was hard not to feel optimistic about the future when you were watching Leo grow up day by day.
"Good game," Xavi said behind him. "Even if you did cheat."
"You did too," Andres said, and leaned backwards into Xavi, knowing he could support his weight for a moment. "Are you going to tell me what that was about?"
It was a sincere question and Xavi considered it as such, although Andres realized after a moment that his wording had been harsher than he'd intended. "Emili said they weren't sure how I would react to the bonding," he said eventually. "Because they've never seen anyone who could hear everyone the way I can. He said there was a possibility I wouldn't be sensitive to anyone but you anymore. It wasn't a big possibility, or else the míster

"Please, can we just play," Andres interrupted. "I'll talk to you after practice, but just. Please." He was so angry with Xavi, and he didn't like being angry - he hated it, actually, and it almost made him angrier at Xavi that he had to feel this way. He could tell it was upsetting Xavi too, which only made it worse, but it was important, and he couldn't just let it go

"I know you're sorry. I don't stop hearing you just because I'm pissed at you. I know you didn't mean to. But, I mean - Xavi," Andres said, helplessly, because it was so hard to stay angry when he could feel that he was hurting Xavi and that hurt him. He sat on the car, next to Xavi but not touching him. "Xavi, do you even understand why I'm mad? If you won't trust me, there's no point in this. Okay? You have to trust me

OP HERE, AHHHHHHHH WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY SHEER DELIGHT. I'm so happy my prompt inspired something so well-done! Xavi and Andres were perfect for what I was thinking, and I like how you didn't just focus on them, but on a world where this could happen and the consequences the actions could have (Pep after Figo left ;_;, Xavi blocking Andres out). And of course Cruyff would be the first to try it, hahaha.
The part about Victor mother-henning him to death is pure speculative fiction, though
and what a delightful bit of speculation it is!
I am really over the moon this got filled so well. You went above and beyond what I wanted and I read this whole thing with a progressively growing smile. Thank you so so so so much, a million besos. :******

I'm so glad you liked it! I was worried because the pairing is kind of not the sexiest, haha. (BUT I LOVE THEM. THAT IS PROBABLY VERY CLEAR NOW.) thank you sooooooooo much for such an awesome prompt!

Gosh, this is so well-written and so sweet I can't even try to be coherent at the moment. Fantastic, anon, great job! Hope you write more about Xaviesta...I love this pairing and it's a pity it's not written so often. And oh I loved that Cesc is sensitive too... Anyway, brilliant work!

I loved this SO MUCH -- not just the wonderful relationships but the creative, science-fictiony setting you put them in. And all that history with Cruyff and the Figo debacle and everything -- just delightful. Have you considered doing a sequel that expands on the backstory with Messi and Cesc and Pique? I'd read that in a football minute.

Completely random anon here, but also I thought the Leo and Cesc and Pique aside was gorgeous ("our brilliant little idiot", and how would it have affected him when they went to england?) and would also read the living hell out of anything about them. The little slice of that story given in this lovely fic is so good just by itself... but... I'm greedy?

Yet another random anon, but I'd read the hell out of this if there's a sequel about Cesc, Piqué and Messi. I'm a Fabriqué fan, but I don't mind seeing Messi in the middle ;)

aww thank you I'm glad you liked it! I am sort of vaguely planning on writing this as a trilogy (when I say "sort of vaguely" what I really mean is "very very vaguely" jfc self get it together) so I can cover the 2006 World Cup and various dramatic events~ that have transpired in the past two years but who even knows haha. yuletide COMES FIRST. other fic gets written after Christmas. XD
I didn't want to link it until I finish the sequel but seriously I hate hate hate the fucked-up posting and I don't want that version put in the archive. dear OP: I promise I am still working on the sequel! sorry I'm so slow. ;_;
