“Oh, it’s you,” he says without interest, and twitches his dressing gown further shut. After a moment he points to a chair and you sit, fuming, but he pours from the decanter again and doesn’t speak.
“Materazzi,” he says eventually, not looking round, and a human column materialises. “Shave,” and the column reduces his height by half and starts lathering his master’s face with such attentiveness that he appears to glow.
He doesn’t bother to look at you. Remote and poised and still prettier than you, even with half his face covered in foam, he says, “So. You wanted something?”
