Sorry for the lapse. I'm totally going to blame the haikuery project for that. That thing is sucking up a lot more brain power than I thought it would (she wimped wimpily).

You know what's strange? Hearing gleeful and disastrous rumors about the media company you work for in the media. I imagine it's a lesser version of people who are up in a plane ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about a pair of simple black shoes. No exaggeration, I have been looking for at least 2 years for a reasonably priced (under $40 'cause I'm cheap) plain black leather flat (closed toe). I cannot find anything: 1.) I like, 2.) that's age appropriate. They either have cutsie bows on them somewhere or it's cut too low down by the toes, or shiny patent leather or too flat (like a ballet flat) or they're not supportive (again, like a ballet flat).

I'm beginning to think such a thing does not exist.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because now I think I'm not so crazy (or not paying enough attention).

I bought my last pair of perfect black shoes 5 or 6 years ago and I really should have trashed them by now (on account of the gaping holes in parts of the sole that haven't already fallen off), but I can't do it until I find their replacement. Why oh why oh why is it so hard to find a shoe you can wear with both slack and jeans, and is comfortable enough to walk a mile (or two) without breaking the bank?!

I hope I can find this holy grail soon. My legs look homeless from the ankles down.

It took me a year since we last spoke about this but I finally found a pair of black flats! Actually I found 3 pairs. The first pair ended up in the garbage after wearing them once. I wore them to the supermarket and they rubbed my feet in all the wrong places, to the point where my feet were actually bleeding and I ended up walking out of the supermarket barefoot. Disgusting, but I was in wretched pain. The insides of the shoes were stained with blood so rather than attempting to return them (or subject someone else to the torture), I tossed them in a bin. The second pair were a little better but again, ended up in the garbage. They didn't hurt my feet (thankfully), they just stretched out after about 3 wearings, to the point that they were falling off of my feet when I walked. This is AFTER I put 2 inner soles in them to fill them in a bit. Unfortunately it had been a few months between wearings so I could no longer return them. Another pair tossed in the garbage. Luckily, both pairs were cheap so tossing them didn't hurt ( ... )

I finally found a pair of black shoes too, but I didn't get the sweet deal you did. I spent rather a lot more than I like to spend on shoes, but 1) they weren't made on the Asian continent, so woohoo for that (mind you, I'm not sure if it's because they're made by Portuguese shoe artisans, or merely Portuguese children in a Portuguese sweatshop), and 2) they're really comfortable and I'll probably be able to wear them for several years. So it's worth it in the end ( ... )
