I am very sorry to hear that. Keep your head up. This probably sounds out of place, but I mean well by it. It is better to get the feeling of being laid off when you dont need to be laid off out of the way now, when you are young and can recover FAIRLY easily... rather than to get laid off when your close to retirement, and not know what that feels like, or how to deal with it. Remember how this feels, and promise yourself to never become dependent on one company ever. ALWAYS depend on yourself. That is the advice that one of my moms friends gave me when she got laid off exactly 8 days before she was to recieve her full retirement from a company she had worked for 25 years. You will do fine. and if youre working on your tan, youll look fine too at your next interview! Keep yer head up!

Thank you Jason. You have no idea how much it means to hear heartfelt advice & not just generic pity/anger. I'm not letting it get me down. And honestly, I knew I wasn't going to be at that company long, it's not an environment I could be happy in (way too negative).

The textile student services director has apparently already been sending out my resume to companies looking for recent grads, because I got a call this afternoon asking me to interview sometime next week.
