He had considered leaving her a note, but that seemed cowardly rather than considerate, and paper seemed to be in limited supply. Instead, he would face her in a very literal fashion, and she could decide whether or not she wished to speak to him. He did not truly doubt that she would, after all. I was sitting on the bed reading a rather boring but nonetheless informative medical text I'd borrowed from the collection in the clinic when I heard the knock at the door. "Come in," I said absently, absorbed in the paragraph I was currently reading.

Admittedly, he had not quite been expecting that, and his hand was somewhat hesitant on the knob. He opened the door only partway, leaning around the edge of it. She seemed absorbed, and he felt more intrusive than ever before, but he spoke nevertheless.

"Hello." He waited until her eyes met his before saying anything further. "May I interrupt?"

"Of course," I said, slipping a scrap of paper into the book I was reading to mark my place. He seemed distinctly uncomfortable, and I suspected it had to do with his behaviour of two weekends previous. I was neither angry nor upset with him, but he would regret it nonetheless, and I wanted to put him at ease as best I could. "We can step out for a walk, if you like?"

Already he felt somewhat reassured, and he gave her the slightest hint of a smile, taking one step back to clear the doorway. "That would do well, I think." His eyes glittered just a bit. "I give you my word I will not...drag you off into the forest." He could count himself entirely grateful that no one else had witnessed that.

He took a subtle glance at the room, somewhat curious about how she had chosen to make her home here. It was fairly nondescript, smaller perhaps than the bedrooms of the quarters he had shared with Obi-Wan back on Coruscant. Just as empty of personal adornment, as well, which somewhat surprised him. She was intensely practical, but he would hardly consider her ascetic.
