Thanks for the concern Bro, but except for the cops showing up and hanging out for a good while, nothing else really happened. As is usual with this sort of thing, it was over so fast that it took processing it later to even know what happened. Popping noises, car headlights, crunching gravel and squealing tires left the brain reeling for a few moments before I was even able to process what was happening. Except for Ariel who asked "what was that?" (to which I replied "People behaving stupidly") the children did not even notice what happened and did not seem particularly worried later when I checked with them and told them what happened.
I'm shocked and saddened to see this. Really if they robbed you, okay, I obviously don't condone such actions, but at the same time, if I were going to rob people I'd try to be honorable about it. If I get what I want I leave quietly, not fire off random shots to create and spread more terror. I'm not saying armed robbery is in itself honorable, but there are plenty of thieves and robbers who do their "job" (used loosely) without intentionally causing more fear. Most of them actually just want to get away as quick as possible and be left alone.
I'm guessing these were young people, right? Those are the type that would typically get a thrill out of robbery enough to fire rounds into the air to scare people.
I'm especially sorry for your children.
I think Catwoman was probably scarier than the robbery though. ;)
Yes, it was the Boulevard drive in. We live about a 5 minute drive from there, just barely on the Johnson county side.
I have been curious about the fact that I have not yet been able to find anything about this in the news. Maybe it was not considered newsworthy. Heh, in this town you would think it would have been a big deal.
The old couple that work in the pay booth were very shaken up but apparently unharmed when Steve went up to check on them (along with about every man at the drive in who heard the shots.) Definetly check with Wes and see if everything is ok and tell him I hope they catch the people who did this.
i will check with them. this really pisses me off cuz these are good people and well...it really pisses me off!! btw mac and i take the kids to the boulevard all the time so next time we are planning an outting i'll give you a call. maybe our families can go together.
