Do this: Go to google news. Search for "Iraq" from 2007-2008.

You'll see a clear picture. A nation that had stabilized, and was picking up its own governance. we'd won, the insurgencies were put down, the nation of Iraq was picking up control over its own territory, and we were withdrawing troops.

Nah, modern doublethink is pretty advanced :-).

I don't actually see many people saying Bush was at fault for ISIS - I've seen one or two people hold forth about how the Iraq withdrawal that he'd committed to created a power vacuum, and certainly that's where they got some of their guns, but most of the people saying the US is at fault for ISIS point at the long history of fucking with the area until there's no-one left that you'd want to be in charge of a country, not the more recent events at all.

If you really want to blame him you can point at the war weariness from Iraq making people shy about going into Syria...

You're right - there is clearly a set of US Democrat partisans who desperately want to pin this on Bush and are going through hideous contortions to do so, and I haven't been paying much attention to either set of US partisan media.

Oh, is that the story now? No surprise.

It's even more bizarre seeing nonsense like this as I am in the middle of reading '1984'. I'd be a lot further along if I wasn't stopping every few pages to mark something that is JUST like what we see going on in real life today! Amazing!

No kidding...I've never read that before, just heard parts of it.

It'd be interesting to read the communist manifesto to see how many of the tricks in that are being used.

communist manifesto - I've been wanting to read this as well! Might have to do it this year. Y'know, just to get a sneak preview of what we're in for.

It all boils down to one thing: 7 years later and Dems are still blaming Bush. No surprise there. :/
