One day I will remember to actually update this thing when cool stuff happens, but as it is I keep forgetting to do so. I go home in about a week to work on a house and finish writing my essays and proposals--not exactly how I'd like to spend my Christmas vacation but I don't have much of a choice in the matter; time's short and I'd rather not

See, I've had life intrude into my studies, but in incredibly awesome ways. The only problem of course is that I keep wanting to ditch the sort of work we have to do in exchange for the work I came here specifically to get done. On the one hand I've had some good experiences with the broadening of my academic horizons, but on the other hand I've also gotten far more excited about the writing of my master's dissertation. So I'm caught between knowing that it's good for my employability to have a broad range of literary knowledge and knowing that the stuff I'm doing for my dissertation is far more interesting to me.

Vicious circles, I tell you.

They keep telling me it's a balancing act. But you would think after two years I still wouldn't be so clumsy. I over-correct at times or overindulge! I suppose it is an extremist personality... Yes and a vicious circle!

Hey, good luck getting every thing done before your trip home so you can enjoy your vacation! Oh, and have a safe trip... overseas, heh? Long trip, I sympathize. I actually have no idea what your work load is like but it sounds heavy... if you'd like I have a leveler if you need it (you know... for your balance) :-) but it actually seems like you have it under control!
