Okay, that end rocks even harder now. You are incredible -- this is really a hard, wonderful slice of something raw and real.

I love that Trey and Summer -- two people who get by in part on their tough-as-nails reps -- manage to see past each others and get a glimpse of something real, and in doing so, find a little piece of Ryan in each other.

This was so awesome! And I really, really love sarcastic Trey -- especially at the end (You're trying to kill yourself with a Bic razor and a bottle of Midol? That's just pathetic.) -- and bitchy, furious Summer, who's ending her life in a flurry of pop-culture references whether he likes it or not!

And I love that Trey's secretly a white knight, too.

I'm so very, very glad you posted this. So, what's next?

Thank you for all of your suggestions and encouragement. It meant a lot to me.

I already miss Trey and Summer the same way I miss hooker!Ryan. :(

So, what's next?

Nothing. I think I'll hang up the keyboard for a while. ;)

So that saviour gene really is deep in the Atwood DNA, eh? After Marissa at the party, Summer in her bathtub - Trey's turning into quite a hero. Of sorts. (loved the tribute to St Elmo's Fire - somehow sounded very Summer, even if she wasn't born when the film came out). And I liked Trey - badass and fucked up and making no excuses for it, and being hot and broody and horny (his gangsta crotch hugging moment made me giggle) and kind of sweet, too.

Shame, of course, that you had to kill of Ryan - but needs must, I guess. Sigh.

And I liked the image of the perfect little black dress torn on the floor of the motel. Maybe a little obvious in terms of symbolism, but rather apt...

“Is everything about sex with you?”

“No. Not everything.”

These Atwoods. Hos, I tell you, hos. Mmmm.

Of course Trey has to come to the rescue; he has to carry on Ryan's legacy now that he's dead.

The gangsta thing was totally connell and overnighter. They seemed to like it when he grabbed his crotch. Heh.

Thanks for your reply. :)

Darn computer. I had a whole comment written and of course it froze before it posted and I lost it. So now to try and recap what I said. I thought this was brilliant. The relationship between Summer and Trey was like that same feeling people have when they pass an accident. They don't want to look, but they feel compelled to do so. You played it off brilliantly, the raw pain that Summer felt and Trey so obviously feels, was there. Just loved it.
I heard that you were pulled back to O.C. Fic kicking and screaming. I hope you're here to stay, because I loved it.

I seriously hate when that happens!

I'm glad you enjoyed this fic. I think it is hard for other people to buy into this pairing. So, thank you for that.

It does sort of have that accident feel to it in a lot of ways, doesn't it? They don't want to rely or need each other, but ultimately they kind of do. They're just two people brought together under duress and trying to cope as best they can.

I heard that you were pulled back to O.C. Fic kicking and screaming.

Was I? Hmm... Where did you hear that?

In any case, thank you for your reply.

A little birdie (or two) may have dropped a comment. Seriously, I'd love to see more. You write so beautifully.

Awesome, Heath...everything a good OC fic should have. Dead fallible St. Ryan, hotter than Hell human Trey, other woman Summer, a smack down of insufferable Seth, and almost non-existent Marissa!

I love that Trey didn't just crawl back under his rock (or return to his trailer). He recognized how fucked up Summer wsa after Ryan's death and went to her to help see her through it. As clumsy as his effort was, it was effective and he was doing the right thing for the right reasons *finally*

I'm so sad that it's over...

I already miss Trey and Summer.

I'm not sure anyone bought Trey as being the slightest bit redeemable, but his actions previous to The Incident That Shall Not Be Named, proved that he had something of a heart. I mean, he was trying...he just screwed up a lot. If Ryan hadn't shut him out (and the writers didn't make Marissa a victim again), Trey would have been such an awesome character. Despite what anyone has said, Logan acted the shit out of a crap script and it takes talent to make people watch a scene like that and feel truly disgusted and conflicted at the same time. Um, anyway...

Thank you for your help and constant encouragement. I appreciate it very much. ♥

How the fuck did I bypass this????

Holy cow that was damn fine. I love your Trey...the right amount of bastard and the saviour side. Perfect. Poor Summer falling apart and only Trey to help her.

You are and will always remain one of my favorite writers...I have missed your fics! (but I still pootle over to ffnet and re-read your stuff on a regular basis!)

Wow. What a nice thing to say. I'm at a loss for words...and even if I could come up with something, I would just wind up sounding like a goof anyway, so I will simply say thank you. ♥
