At six in the morning my secretary Belinda stirred me from sleep to inform me that she was patching through a wake-up call from Ben Stiller, asking me if I could come over to the set of his film, because director Jerry Bruckheimer and producer Louis Yorba were themselves two hours late.
Ben-worried that the studio heads would show up and immediately throw a blanket over the whole production-was counting on the day’s scenes to be his thankful last. He didn’t want anything short of murder stopping him from getting it all overwith.
I can’t say I blame him.
This film was, at the time Ben signed his name to it, a romantic thriller with Cameron Diaz, based off the Gwendolyn Book Award winning novel Children Aren’t Safe by David Torres (http://www.livejournal.com/users/foreignpetals/2019.html), a Lake Mary, Florida based writer whom Michael Crichton first brought into Hollywood’s gifted imelight on the set of Jurassic ParkOriginally set to direct was
