so, today me and dustin were driving around pittsburgh, and we were kind of lost, but found the road we needed to be on, so we turned quickly on a green light. well, long story short, we got into a head on fucking collision. it was the scariest moment of my life, and i am so fucking grateful to be alive it's unreal. dustin and i are both okay, we ( Read more... )

oh my god. i saw that you added me from thosegypsies, and i recently added you back. i don't know you at all, but i must say that i'm so, so glad to hear that you're okay. driving is scary. i used to work within walking distance from the coffee shop i work at, but my husband and i had to move, and now it's a twenty-minute drive every day. i hate it. yes, it'll be hard not having a car, but you'll be forced to change your habits, and it'll probably ultimately be for the better.

and to answer your question: yes, it is great to be alive.

i hate driving. i haven't driven in years. i really hate the thought of driving and accidents. i get so stressed out.

i live walking distance from my work, but dustin has to drive to the next city over for his.

i'm kind of excited to change my habits, as we'd become quite dependent on the car, and we would just drive when we could be walking. there's a great natural health grocery store in walking distance, but we'd always drive to a giant supermarket to save like 10 cents.

it's good to be alive, but so stressful sometimes

yes, take advantage of having to walk. i lived about a fifteen-minute walk outside of a pretty college town a few years ago, and my husband and i walked everywhere, even though we had a car. we'd buy produce at local markets, buy organic coffee from a local café, go out to eat there from time to time, etc. it was wonderful. my life really felt much less stressful when i was getting more fresh air and driving less.

oy, I'm glad you're okay! it'll be tough not having a car, but it'll work itself out. it's nice to be awakened to the greatness, and preciousness, of life.
