First Mission

I don't know where I was, but this has to be the worst designed prison I've ever been in. If they're trying to make me feel at home, they could put me in a barracks, not a suburb I'd expect from my younger days. And what are these pictures supposed to be? I have my eyes in all of these ( Read more... )

You're not in a prison, not really. It kind of feels like one sometimes, I guess.

There's not a way out of here. Not one that anybody's been able to find yet, anyway.

I already know the box isn't going to be there. I really need to find one.

So what happens when you leave the town?

You don't leave, that's the weird thing about it. I tried to walk on out this morning, but I just ended up on the other side of town. It was like the road looped back in on itself or something. Same thing's apparently happened to other people, too.

A couple of us are tryin' to find a way to leave for real, though. Somehow.

The more I hear, the more it sounds like VR. I don't like this.

Barracks? Are you a soldier, too?

Too? You don't recognize me?

Should I?

...Are you okay?

Most people do.

Fifty years with one eye? Depth perception is a pain.

It seems that they repair damage when they bring us here, sir.

Does anyone remember how we got here? This is starting to sound uncomfortably like VR training. I'm too old for more training.

sycophanticdick March 25 2009, 22:46:25 UTC
No, sir, I went to sleep at my base and woke up here the next morning. From what I've gathered, that's a typical experience. For those of us who don't think we're natives, at least. If this is VR training, then I'm not sure what we're being trained for, sir.

You raise a good point. From the looks of things, urban combat is the obvious answer, but why they chose something sixty years old is strange.

You're a soldier, then?
