Timeline Clarification

Ah, apparently there's been a bit of confusion in general about the timeline and exactly where we're setting (which is my fault because I sometimes like to assume that everyone can magically read my mind know the things I know) so I'm making a post to hopefully clear it up and answer any questions there may be

I'm curious about what the limits are in terms of replying to peoples' journal entries. For instance, Aerith doesn't know Tifa or Cloud yet, but can she reply to their journal entries before they meet on the timeline? To people at Shin-Ra's? Can they reply to hers?

In canon there's obviously a point in time where Aerith meets all of these people, and before that I'm assuming she had no contact with them, so this is why I am wondering.

I don't think she would reply, i mean of course it's open but it has to fit as well. I think it's only those who she's met or is affiliated with at that point in time. That's my guess.

I want to make sure that I've got Gen in the right place, so let me make sure I've got all of this straight.

Gen already has some clones with Hollander, and knows about what's happening to him but hasn't deserted yet, which would mean that he's still reporting in.

Is he currently on the front lines of Wutai? or is he in Midgar waiting to be deployed again?
