Oops!
So, that meme I was supposed to be doing every day. Hey, it's been a busy week! I'm finally getting round to it again, though, so here's question 2:
1: I am really, really affectionate. I love to cuddle and be cuddled, I don't feel right at all without at least one hug a day. My default state is cuddling.
2: I am very much a rural girl. Cities are not good places for me to live - last time I lived in a city, I developed a very severe clinical depression - not entirely due to city living, but it didn't help. I now live in a little cottage in Sherwood Forest, and it is much better for my mental health.
3: I have dyspraxia - I don't have all the symptoms on that list, but I certainly have a lot of them. Oddly, my fine motor skills are pretty good - I can play musical instruments, make jewellery, and do lots of medical stuff like suturing, inserting IV lines etc - but ask me to play on a dance mat and I tie my feet in a knot and fall over. I was only formally diagnosed recently, which was when I realised it was actually pretty severe, but I've been clumsy and disorganised all my life.
4: I have an odd mix of skills and abilities. If I was a roleplaying character, I would have spent my skill points very unwisely. I can bake lovely cakes, write poetry and stories, ride a horse, speak passable French and make pretty jewellery - all very respectable Jane Austen accomplishments. I can also eviscerate a corpse from the tongue downwards (during autopsies), reduce a dislocated shoulder, tell you how long a person has been dead and whether they've been moved from looking at them, get fluids into a critically injured person through their bones using a drill and a spiky implement, and discuss maggots in Nepalese.
5: I once saw the Beast of Bodmin.
6: I identify as bisexual, although I'm currently in an opposite-sex relationship and intend to remain in it for the forseeable future. We're getting married like respectable people and everything.
7: I have a scar under my left eye from falling off my skateboard when I was eight. You can't see it most of the time, but if I've been crying it goes red and stays that way for the rest of the day.
8: I am very much a people person. I don't do big parties very much, but I also don't really like being on my own. In particular, I have my core group of four people (my parents, my fiancé and my best friend) who I really like to have close to me, or at least have regular contact with.
9: I'm an only child, sort of. I have two half-brothers from my biological dad's first marriage, but they're a lot older than me and we don't see each other very often at all. Although I've recently got to know my brother Ivan a lot better, and he is lovely. He is in a band called Coldheart, you should go and listen to them. Although, my goodness, they need a new website :-)
10: I met most of my close friends at Warwick University, more than 10 years ago. I was so happy there.
11: I love singing. I would really love to sing a lead role in a musical, but I haven't had any time to look into am dram societies over the last few years. Maybe one day.
12: I hate looking at myself in mirrors. I am aware that this says unfortunate things about my self-esteem.
13: After a few years of religious foostering around, I have settled quietly into Christianity. I'm Church of England (although I don't go nearly as much as I should), although I do approve of the new Pope. I don't like some of the bigotry that comes along with religion, but then you find bigots everywhere.
14: I grew up (from the age of eight) on a farm. It was awesome.
15: I call everybody 'love'. It's a Northern thing.
16: Right now I have a lot of hair. I'm growing it long for the wedding, but I may cut it shorter afterwards as it does get in my face. I also moult like a kitty, so I have to pin it up carefully when taking forensic samples.
17: I love Christmas. My name actually means 'Christmas Day' and it is very appropriate. I have started getting excited for this year already.
18: I love floral flavours and scents. Rose flavoured tea, violet flavoured chocolates, lavender jam - it's all good. I have a violet scented shampoo from Lush which is like catnip for me. Me-nip.
19: I adore kitties. I have two; one who lives with me called Josh (aka JJ), and my parents' cat Heidi who is sort of mine as well. They make me very happy.
20: I love buying presents. I can't wait to get settled in this job and get a regular paycheck so I can afford to do so.
