At last, I have finally isolated the single perpetrator of all my complexion woes. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, this feculent abomination otherwise known as
5-star roxin' post in my book, Saff - all this time I thought it was just chocolate, but maybe milk plays a role in my acne as well? ... Hmmm, time to pull off the substance, though I don't consume a tremendous amount, hey, anything to try and help my poor neck and cheeks. O_O
Back in high-school, I had a chemistry teacher named Bill Lumbley. Sometime way back when, while Bill was diligently working toward a graduate degree, he discovered one too many realities much like the one you speak of here. Something snapped, and Bill went nuts.
Naturally, Bill became a high-school chemistry teacher as a result. Bill would research the cafeteria menu every morning, and just before lunch, he would tell us wide-eyed, sorry-looking lot of teenagers exactly what was in the aforementioned lunch and break it down to its core components - not leaving out, of course, the small allowed percentage of ingredients simply defined as: "other".
Three things happened that year: 1. I lost a good deal of weight 2. I never ate in the high-school cafeteria again 3. I decided that, in many cases involving life, ignorance is indeed bliss.
Oh I see, so you needed all that technobabble to convince you. I couldn't just say, "Milk is bad. It's bad for your skin. It's bad for your sinuses. It's bad for the cows. I get far less acne since quitting the dairy industry." Ok, fine. I guess that's understandable. I just wish I had the slightest amount of patience for chemistry.
Don't say goodbye to Crispix!bittercatMay 4 2004, 14:53:51 UTC
There ARE non-dairy options out there, you know.
...and thanks to your post, I'm probably going to start experimenting with them. I mean, I've been considering cutting it out for a while. Every time I read something like this, though, it just makes me more motivated to do so. LOL!
I'm not worried about acne, so much as what's IN the milk due to the cows' diets, the treatment of the cows, and the processing. I also don't drink that much. I normally mostly use it in coffee and on cereal and for cooking.

LOL! Understood. That's why I'm still hanging on to my dairy. :P
I don't mind the cheese substitutes so much, because they can be blended with other foods. I've heard bad things about soy milk, though, and I'm not interested in soy, anyway.
Uh...I'll take your word for it on the rice milk. Thanks anyway! xP

I know but they all suck.
Soy milk tastes like Elmer's glue spiked with aspartame and rice milk, well .. let me go puke into a glass and show you what that tastes like.
Milk was my last hope for a decent breakfast.
