The pipe inside my wall burst about an hour ago. Same bathroom... more flooded. Water off to whole condo building.

I'm going to go to sleep now. Don't care.

I will need a plumber tomorrow. If you know one or are one. Please call.

Is the association going to help with any of this? Did someone not have their heat on, hence making part of the building colder?

Dude, that just sucks. `8r( Sorry to hear it.

Make sure you talk to the insurance representatives for both your policy and the condo master policy. In most cases, the damage you described will be covered.

Thanks for all your concern people. It's helped.

Anyway, the pipe is fixed and water is functional. I spent the night bailing water as the "water-shut-off" seems to be a rather generous term. You'd think a simple screw valve would be foolproof, but, eh, not so much. I did invent a rather ingenious funnel and aluminum-foil based sluce system to transport the water from the wall out into my boot-tray.

The carpet and wall are toast. Insurance will likely fight with the condo community, who for the record, are claiming that because no one else's condo was affected, they have no part to play. My insurance will send out a claims adjuster soon.

Car goes in tomorrow morning for its assessment.

I have a new toilet, but frankly, it might sit in the living room for a while. I'll do more thinking tomorrow.

The car is in the shop and I have a rental. I have a new toilet, but it is not installed yet. I think I will cut away the carpet and pull up the tack-strip so the spare bathroom is at least semi-functional. I managed to actually flush the toilet without a handle, which was certainly nice.

Holidays are good so far, so that has to count for something =)
