dead car

The news came back regarding my car today. I managed to blow a head-gasket - which wikipedia tells me is kinda important or something. Now, I have some 48 hours to buy a new car and figure out my finances so as to allow such a purchase without any sort of trade-in. Blah.

Heh. My Neon got a new head gasket at one point. It was in better shape at the time, though, and an extended warranty covered most of the replacement.

I agree with the "new car" assessment, if it matters.

I dig the Honda Fit. It's ugly, but quite practical!

the honda fit is ok, but hard to drive on expressway because it is so little it gets blown around cause of the wind. Its fun to drive in the city though. The toyota corrolla looks nice, the prius.

If you are buying a new car join Costco or Sam's club because they both auto-buying clubs that saved me at least $2,ooo. There is a list that the dealers have to go by. The dealers' get a price and the list is usually only about a $100 more. This is a no brainer.

Also check Cars.com, because they tell the dealer price the kelley blue book price and in between price. Something to think about.

Well, the Honda Fit was actually my primary choice, but after searching around for deals, I decided that I could not afford the $400 per month payments. (ah the hell of not having a trade-in!). Anyway, I went with a demo Yaris. Now to choose a name.

Heh. 2 door or 4 door?

It amuses me that the 4 door yaris is exactly the same as my 2002 Prius.

A head gasket isn't total destruction of the engine unless you kept running the engine until the cylinders seized up; in which case the motor is definately done. Usually it's about a $500 repair. That's a hella lot less than car payments.

Fix the car if you can.

The coolant flooded the cylinders, causing hydro-lock. I actually had some warning in the form of stuttering the day before. I did not really think too much of it though. Oh well.

If you need to borrow a car, I have a used Kia Spectra 2000 sitting in my driveway that Jess is trying to find the title on so she can get rid of it. She just bought an Altima.

Let me know if you want to talk about this. I'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement if you want.

Very cool Gonzo. Thanks, but I actually just purchased a new car a few hours ago. The thought was appreciated, though.
