I'm sometimes a bit worried over communication with friends nowadays. I find that we are decentralizing our methods. I would recommend Isaac Asimov's Robot Mysteries as reading for a potential future of humanity. He takes into account the increased ease of communicating without actually "seeing" people with increased technology.

I disagree. I'm bored all the time at home when I'm not with friends, even while surfing the internet.

If you take the time to go through the various methods of communication and set up meetings, then this doesn't apply to you. But many people take the path of least resistance I think. At least consider that if people don't hang out with others, they must be doing something to pass the time.
