"No, fingerprints." "...I don't think so."

I don't even think the guy found the eleven best of the naughty jokes to slide by the censors in Animaniacs, but that was a funny little collection of clips... poor Prince.

I always thought that J&SB Strike Back was mostly hilarious, and the last useful thing he did... Cop Out is truly, truly ghastly.

There's also some really good material in "An Evening With Kevin Smith," but the sequel is just steaming drek... he's capable of bringing out so much entertaining and sharply insightful stuff, but put him on stage with Jason Mewes and it's forty minutes of "Dude, I fuckin' knew you were gay," back and forth, back and forth, snorrrrrrrre.

J&SB did have a fair number of good/funny moments. I think part of the reason I only found it ok (bearing in mind it's been some time since I've watched it) is that some of the jokes they were trying to make were...too inside-joke-ish? Like he was parodying his own previous work in some of it, and it was funny but sometimes a bit awkward. And some jokes were a bit anvilicious. I like a bit of subtlety on occasion.

(I will always, however, love the Matt Damon/Ben Affleck scene.)

Yeah, I saw him on stage several years ago (IIRC, part of that footage is on the first "Evening" DVD - it was at Indiana University) and he was great. I know he CAN be funny; but now, it just seems like not only does he not care enough to try to grow as a creator (I think he definitely grew all the way from Clerks through Dogma), but he's actively putting down his own stuff. Bleh.
