[So San was challenged. Someone - a demon - threatened the forest and it's her duty not to let that happen. Or die trying.

Sometimes it looks way more likely to be the latter. She's in the forest, not dead (!) but very, very unconscious, with enough visible injuries and blood  to worry even the dumb humans.]

[The forest? Well, Aldo's there, as he tends to be these days, enjoying winter.

Oh my goodness is she dead?!] Miss?! Are you ok?

[she's going to need more than just a spell or two. San lost to a demon god fox thing and it wasn't a pleasant experience. She'll have a handful of broken bones in addition to the slashes - two across her arms and torso, one that spans both legs.]

[Today? Is a wonderful, beautiful, glorious day. And do you know why? Do you? Katara hasn't phased in hours.

...so of course it's too good to true. Of course going for a walk will lead to finding a friend in trouble.]

San!

[Rushing over now.]

[San is half-covered in leaves, bleeding from three (but it looks like five or six) gashes across her body, and has enough broken bones that Katara will need two hands to count them.

Sorry about ruining her day.]

[They have got to stop meeting like this.

Katara's on her knees beside her immediately, glancing around to see any trace of who did this even as she streams water out to coat her hands and carefully - carefully place her hands on San so that she can assess the damage.

...this isn't good.]

[Oh, Ninetails is long gone. But San gave almost as good as she got, right up to the end. The demon fox is hurting, too. Somewhere.

Her breathing is shallow, but at least it's smooth. Good luck, Katara.]

[Moro knew better than to leave the den. But San had been gone for a long time.

So she followed San's scent, hesitating only when she smelled blood. Carefully sneaking through the brush, she made it over to San's body.

...She let out a small whine, knowing she was unable to do much of anything for her temporary caretaker. She pawed at San's arm helplessly.]

[and there's nothing San can do for the poor pup. But at least mother!Moro would be proud of her?

There should at least be the small game San was initially hunting, somewhere nearby. Before the threat and the challenge.]

[Moro notices it, but pretty much ignores it. She's not quite sure why she feels such a strong attachment to San, but the guilt at the mere thought of leaving the injured wolf's side hurt the pup's heart.

Instead, she laid down, shuffling herself under the leaves as well, to hide them both from predators as best as she could. She waited. What else could she do?]

[Even Ginko can smell this much blood-- maybe it's something of the oddity of Ninetail's that makes it easier, but one way or another, he comes across this scene with a faint gasp.]

San.
