[It's becoming less and less unusual to see San around the village during the day. This day, regardless of the weather, she's sitting on the fountain's edge with one hand in the water to the wrist. She's not looking at much of anything.

In all fairness, she's not thinking much of anything either. Her thoughts are pretty well dominated by that hand ( Read more... )

[If she ventures far enough into the tunnels, she may eventually come across a certain cell containing a certain half-elf. Picking up on the echoing sounds of someone approaching, he fixes his stony gaze on the metal bars at the front of the cell. He really loathes how his life is forced to revolve around the comings and goings of whoever deems it necessary to "check in" on him. The rest of his time is spent missing certain people, and trying not to think about certain others.]

[Nobody is more startled to find a caged human down here than she is.]

Did the Malnosso put you here?

[He's fairly surprised himself - he'd suspected Raine as most likely, but this is someone he's never even seen before. The startled look doesn't last for long. Distrust is full force.]

No, this was done by others in the village.

[a sharp frown gives away her thoughts on that. It's bad enough they would cage animals. But to do this to one of their own?]

...Then the humans are...not as I thought.

[well two of the three responsible aren't human, but...details. Raine and Yuan are just as bad. Though, now he wonders just what she is.]

WHat would you expect of them?

Of most? Very little.

I just thought these were different.

How naive of you to think so. The filth here are the same as in any other world.

[He just gets A Look.]

You are not human?

[he did imply it.]

[his eyes flare, incensed]

Of course not. Don't make me ill. [The human half of his blood is something he wishes he could sever from himself. the elven half too, actually. That's what being a seraph was about. Reminders of what he is and what he isn't are not needed.]

[That's a lot of hatred.

...But they did lock him up.]

Is that why they put you here? [She understands their tendency to lock up not!human things. ...Well, okay, she doesn't understand it but she knows it's there.]

Why does it matter to you? [he doesn't know what she is or what her intentions are, and he'd rather just be left alone]

[Well, once she thinks about it? It doesn't really. And then she'll just keep walking. Your socialization is wandering away, Mithos...]

[He should probably just let her leave, but...something nags at him. Before she can get too far--]

...If you aren't human, what are you?

I am a wolf.

[she even stands a little taller when she says it.]

[he just...gives her a highly dubious look. Does she expect him to believe that? Because she looks human-- then again, so does he, mostly.]

A wolf. [he repeats flatly, sounding like he doesn't quite believe her]

The Wolf Tribe protects the forest from human interference and destruction. Moro is my mother.

[Even though technically she's her own leader now.]
