Well, a very nice present this Memorial Day. Liked how you went through the attack without actually writing it, instead giving us the EDM version that he heard from Lureen. Interesting that she was tipped off and would believe it safe only if Jack left Childress, and that she had to drive him. To meet the famous Ennis? When Lureen gets back to Childress, bet there will be hell to pay in more ways than one!
Nice take on Bobby's personality. But what about Bobby? Did he ride along, too?
Again, Jack comes back to Ennis, bruised and battered, and Ennis gets the opportunity to care for him and show him how much they mean to each other.
Like the decision and comment from Ennis, that maybe Jim should move with them, since "someone has to cook"! A nice oblique reference to OS, and their lack of culinary skills.
And, now on to Alma. What a day!
Thanks again.

I'm thrill that you enjoyed the chapter and how Lureen saved the day. Like you, I am very much looking forward to see what she does to her old man when the dust settles. There's just so many possibilities, which gives me free range...a very dangerous thing!
Bobby was a lot of fun to flesh out too. At 10 years old, boys tend to want to be like their father so I could just see him ready to take charge and use his "connections" once Ennis gave him the information he needed. And, oh yes, the spitfire Lureen is about to meet the mysterious Ennis Del Mar. Should be interesting, don't you think?
I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter and how I handled Jack's "bashing." I wanting to do something other than a straight description of the assault and Lureen's phone call gave me the mechanism I needed.
As always, I appreciate your comments and hope to continue to see you around these parts in the future. Take care.
Love, Debra.

Hey, Joe.
That's awful to hear that you are not feeling well. Pneumonia is something to take seriously so please take care of yourself and follow doctor's orders. Lots of rest, fluids and slash! :-)
Don't you fret one bit about my writing this weekend. I had a lot of fun and was happy to put your mind at ease about Jack. Lureen is indeed not a happy woman and it will be interesting to see how she demonstrates her displeasure. Your point about making our own families is exactly right. This was a big step forward for Ennis and I'm sure once he discusses the invitation with Jack that his man will have no problem with the idea.
Now, that your mind is at peace about Jack's condition please take care of yourself. I'm putting myself back on a normal monthly posting schedule so I'll probably have another chapter ready sometime in early July. In the meantime, take care and have a speedy recovering.
Love, Debra.

so here's the gist of it.
thank goodness lureen and the sheriff goit to the dealership before LD's guys could do too much damage to jack. thank goodness lureen is taking jack out of childress for medical treatment and to ennis for healing. hope she still wants to work out an equitable divorce settlement.
jim was marvelous. he did just the right things to help ennis deal with his tumultuous feelings. maybe he will leave riverton with the boys. he needs to do something other than ranch work. and also, jim's calming presence after ennis learned of this thing with jack will help ennis in his upcoming meeting with alma. this meeting with alma will be something else.
i'll be waiting for chapter 9 whenever you get to it.

And, Lureen is indeed a spitfire. She's a smart woman who is used to taking charge. Someone has tried to harm her Jack and that is just not acceptable. It will be interesting to see what happens when she finally gets to meet the elusive Ennis Del Mar.
Glad you are still reading along and patiently waiting for the next chapter. Don't know about you, but after these last 3 chapters I can use a little vacation. LOL! Love, Debra.

I was really worried here.
But Jim is right- Ennis sure is popular today. It's good Jim got to Ennis before Alma.Perhaps now he has calmed down enough to have the much needed conversation with her
thank you for this quick update and no evil cliffhanger this time :)

Just in the nick of time, I would say.
I don't think Ennis is too happy about being popular, but as you say at least Jim was able to get him to talk and release some of that infamous anger of his before his ex-wife arrives. I bet Ennis would probably love to crawl into a hole just about now and curl up into a tight little ball until Jack arrives. But, I don't think Alma's gonna let him get a way with that.
When it rains it pours!
