My first half marathon

Nov 14, 2016 15:34

I don't know why but I lost my momentum in dayre-ing as u can see its 10 days since I last dayre-d. πŸ˜…

But oh well, what's new. It's hard to build a habit in me (even tho I read before it takes 15 days to become a habit?) because I'm just too lazy + procrastinating + lack of perseverance. πŸ˜‘

Not sure if u remember my 10km sundown run in May this yr. The gap between my previous 10km (I think it's green corridor run?) is at least 2 yrs. And after doing that I was intrigued to do a half marathon.

Because:
1. Forced me to exercise since I stopped gym temporarily
2. Train my mental strength which I need more
3. Curious if I can do it

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And since th is up to it we signed up while sh signed up for 10 (persuasion failed big time) and zy is travelling.

But little do I expect myself to fall sick so frequently throughout the months. I have flu, cough, sore throat or headache every alternate week. πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘

I contributed my first major illness right after sundown probably 'cause I ran too hard. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ And I didn't recover from it? No idea but my body hasn't fully recovered since then. But I suspect stress from studying contributed to it too. πŸ˜₯

So in the end I didn't get to exercise as much as I will like to. Lol. My longest run was 10km.

Target time?

I was whining to my friends about it and when I asked how long shld I target, some said 3.5hrs. So my optimistic plan was 3hrs and longest 3.5hrs. I thought I will do 3.5 because I don't run in the morning nowadays. Not to mention that I need to wake up at 3am.

I managed to wake up and took the shuttle bus which I paid for. And th wasn't late! πŸŽ‰

Our hopeful plan was to chase for the 2hr45min pacer (who is at the start of the race while we were around 3min behind).

Unfortunately, I had to pee. LOL. At 1+km and ended up queueing for like 3-5min. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ bye bye pacers.

We continued our run and managed to clear 10km in 1hr20min? We took a break from 12km to 13km. πŸ˜† I probably could continue to run if I want to but I think I will die at the end without this 1km break. Oh, I was SO HUNGRYY! In the end we separated at 15? because I didn't want to stop running (dying to drink 100+). In the end I stopped twice after 18km πŸ˜…πŸ˜… that's the problem of running alone.

To be fair I walked because I'm left with ample time to 3hrs. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ And you can see that I have no wish in running faster than that. 😝😝

I crossed the line at gun time 2hr 55min. Probably slightly faster on net time and even better if I minus the time I went to toilet. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Regardless, did my first half marathon πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ #astrongerme

Rewarded myself with a good burger king breakfast!

Will I do it again?

Surprisingly I will. Even tho it's so painful. Self-inflicted torture. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ After a certain distance it's really mental game. Run or walk? I'm so hungry I can die. LOL.

But given that I walked for 1+km... if I didn't walk at all, I can probably follow the last pacer. πŸ˜…πŸ˜… or maybe even earlier like 2.5hr? Which is basically my 10km time x2. πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Interested to know if I can do it.

Of course it's fun because I have buddies to run with me or waiting for me (the 小强队 - sometimes I can't rmb our group chat name πŸ˜…)

Till the next one (persuading in process)!

ms, dayre
