Ah - lovely! I do love 'first time' stories and this was a lovely romantic christmassy setting. I enjoyed Kirk explaining everything to Spock (and I learnt a few things, as American and British Christmas traditions differ (ask Scotty!). I still have no idea what eggnog is other than it's alcoholic. *grin* I have a little bit of a thing for Spock initiating things, so this hit a nice button for me. Thanks for a wonderful contribution. :-)

Thanks for that link! I'd been meaning to look it up and hadn't gotten around to it. It seems the drink started out here in England and was already popular in the US by the time of the war of independence. I'm not sure why its popularity fizzled out here - 250 years on, and I've never heard of it! I'll have to try it next time I'm in the US at the right time of year. :-)
