She stands in the doorway, wet as can be. She struts on my rug with her mud streaked sneakers. I notice my favorite shirt on her Light aqua, mom tells me it matches my eyes. I remember three paychecks in our hands And the red sale tag screaming 17.99. I bought the shirt for autumn time Not too heavy, not too light. I already had two bags in my hand She carried only one. Now I look at her, and the shirt I’d find excuses to wear everywhere. She gives me a smirk as if who cares I glare til she mutters sorry half heartily She then stalks out, you said we’d share The shirt anyway, always I mumble without thinking before We can’t share cloths forever. Then reality snaps and the light aqua shirt That matches both of our eyes Is in the trash.
