mike is going through the same thing. i think alot of kids do. independence. unfortunately, everything out there is so expensive and the normal 18 yr old cannot affor a car and appartment , food, entertainment and whatever else. i went to look at apartments yesterday. an arm and a leg. anyway good luck with everything.

I havent read through your whole rant yet but Ill have time as I sit at my job doing nothing. Lemme give you some piece of advice from someone who is out there on their own. First and foremost atleast in my mind is planning. Get a job or some form of steady income and sit down and work out a realistic budget w/ a good margin for error and a bit of money set aside for 'emergencies' (opps I forgot its xmass in a week or My cars rear axle just fell off etc.) Once you know where every dollor you will have for the next year or so is going to come from find a place to live that will fit that budget. This will probably mean roomates, but that common enough. Make sure you can tolorate your roomies. NOW chris think on this one cus I know you very well and I know how fickle you can be w/ closeness of friends. If you move in with someone generally you sign a lease w/ them and if you guys end up hating each other then you can get really screwed over because your under legal contract to stay there

Well, Jon as always basically covered it all. :-P As far as the plan and all that, well hell.....thank you Jon, cuz ya helped me there too. :) But one other thing from me. Make sure you do something that is making YOU happy. Your parents will accept whatever path you choose even if it does take some time, but if you let them make it for you it may not be something you can take back. If you aren't yourself worried about money, then don't be. Its a necessity, no doubt, but you also don't need to make the big bucks to survive in this world either. Don't be unhappy to fufill THEIR view of you. You life is yours to manage.
