ooc: Not binding to any Jack in any comm. Especially not
not_a_savage, because our Jack and Juliet are just fine :P
The tent was silent once Kate left. “I know you're awake,” she said softly. She wouldn't look into his eyes. She breathed through it. As she finished her stitches and cleaned him up, she refused to think about his eyes. The way they had looked at her just days before. How his hand held her cheek. His lips on hers. There had been something. In that kiss, in his eyes. Something between them from the moment they met. She'd felt it. She knew he had felt it, too.
But it wasn't enough. He needed to fix. He needed to fix Kate as badly as Kate needed him to fix her. Without Sawyer around it was Jack's turn for attention again, and Juliet was on the sidelines.
Not another word to Jack, she left the tent and went to wash herself off in the water. In the ocean. A real cleanse. She left her shoes in the sand and stepped into the dark waters. The sea foam swept around her ankles and the waves rolled around her. She tilted her head up to the moon and watched it as she took another step into the ocean.
He'd wanted to help her. Help her away from those that she had lived with for so long. Help her away from Ben. He'd helped her filter into the group of survivors, though she'd not been taken to so well. He fought for her.
He kissed her.
She closed her eyes, face still pointing to the night sky, and let out a shaky breath. She didn't need him to fix her, and maybe that was the problem. She wanted to fix herself. Help herself. Get herself home. Sure, she cared for him. She wanted him. But she wasn't going to be where she wasn't needed or wanted. She wouldn't stand in the way of what he truly wanted. And she would be okay. She'd be okay. She bit onto her bottom lip and allowed only a few burning tears slip from her eyes. She was alone again, but she'd be okay.
