I am writing my first entry since ... September? Really? ... to inform anyone who hasn't already heard that the Battlestar Galactica finale was dumb.
Really frakking dumb, you guys.
With regards to sociology, anthropology, narrative, linguistics, archaeology, biology, mythos, characters and COMMON SENSE, it was dumb.
Lee Adama is officially dumber than Jeff Probst and Mark Burnett! What am I supposed to do with this information? I have decided that Lee actually wants all humans and cylons to die and specifically to send Sam into the sun. I am actually ok with this, now I think about it.
I was ok with not knowing what Kara was as long as she got to be Kara. But once you stop allowing her to be Kara, you better give me some fucking answers. And also, not letting me see Kara Thrace smile one more time? Uncool.
The flashback scene! Unlike a lot of people, I am ok with Kara and Lee getting it on during the Zak Years. But! You have to make me believe that they have actually gotten so caught up in each other that they have forgotten him, and this scene didn't do this. I'm not sure whether it was the acting, directing or writing - actually, considering the actors, writers and directors, I know exactly who I'm blaming - but it didn't work.
Also! Also, nice try making it seem like rescuing Hera was a worthy finale storyline, Ron, with the mitochondrial Eve thing, but you know what? Mitochondrial DNA comes from the mother, and Hera's mother was an Eight and presumably there were at least a dozen of them wandering around procreating, so fail on that front, dude!
Not that I didn't enjoy some of it - I did. But the dumbness just overwhelmed everything else.
In conclusion, dumb.
So, I ended up watching Dollhouse as a palate cleanser, which didn't exactly work, because I have Issues with that show, but since I have never felt that Joss has screwed me over purposely and maliciously, just occasionally sort of incompetently and with moderately-good intentions, I enjoyed it a lot more.
Watching Eliza and Tahmoh beat the living shit out of each other was a lot of fun.
So, hi livejournal! I'm always around. Lurking. In the shadows.
