You bring up a very interesting phenomenon that has made my life as an agnostic seemingly the right choice. I understand what you're saying about hypocricy in the church. That's what scares me. God is not a scary thought at all. He comforts me in his all knowing ways, but how can i know the true God when the only version of Him that i get is from a human's perspective. Human's are the ones that scare me. They are liers, cheats, will o' the wisps, and even clowns but that's not the whole truth. I suppose God is watching these people and taking note of their actions. They will all come back on Judgement Day, but that is for God to decide not us. It's a pain to watch these people use the Bible as a weapon against others and to hide their own faults. I don't think that slavery is acceptable but a version of the Bible once said it did. Those are my own issues though. On the topic of your specific issues i would say for my two cents be as good and moral a person as you can be. We re all faulty at times. WE sin that's what Jesus died on the

How did I make agnosticism seem like the right choice? And about knowing the true God, if you don't like the version you get from a human's perspective, why don't you read some of the Bible for yourself

That's a good point, but I'll leave you with this:
2 Timothy 3:16 states that “All scripture is inspired by God….” In 2 Peter 1:20-21, Peter reminds the reader to “know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, … but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” The Bible itself tells us that it is God who is the author of His book.
hey i dont know you at all, but i saw you left a comment on paramoreband (<3). I just read this entry and i made one like it last night, which im probably going to delete before it gets me in trouble. anyways.
yes. hypocrisy. its everywhere, it seems to be magnified in church. i find some of the most hypocritical people in church bc they use God as a way of making themselves righteous in EVERYTHING. I found that the best way to avoid it was to not look at others and what they were doing because in turn i was just joining the crowd by pointing out the wrong they were doing without looking to myself. I started focusing more on myself and what I needed to change, what God was telling me to rid myself of. Youd be surprised to see the change in your friends once you start changing positively and through that - only giving out positivity.
I think it was Thomas Aquanis (sp) that said, I will preach your Word to the nations and I will use words if I have to.
