You can make a career being a very mediocre bassist if you get in the right group, and bassists being in high demand, that's much easier than for vocalists, drummers, and guitarists.
It's kind of like big fish in a little pond. If you're auditioning to All-State on trombone you have a MUCH higher chance of getting in than if you are auditioning on flute. It's numbers. I get it, I get it.

haha cool. If you search for Daniel Nichols within the Berklee College of Music network on Facebook, I should be the only one, wearing a red flannel shirt. That's probably the easiest way to give you the most amount of information. Also, I played bass with The Wassung Dave Connection (I was given the honorary title of "Connection") back in the day, if you went to any of their shows.
